Colin from Javelin told me it was Iain that complained about the smoke, scared I was going to be faster than him!!

Engine coming apart tomorrow afternoon, down to Jay at Modus for re-bore and pistons, crank polish, new shells. Then back to me for re-build and back in the car.
This constitutes the total sum of my winter work.
Brakes are being re-furbed by BCS in Nottingham and should be back first week of March.
Will post engine internal pics once it comes apart tomorrow.
So first order of business, rugby was on, so this had to go up.

which led to

Bish bash bosh

And
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...g/IMG_0009.jpg
So for a long time I thought I had an oval bore on number 1, however it appears that this might have been the cause.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...g/IMG_0010.jpg
Looks like a broken oil control ring on number 1, all this lot is off to Jay tomorrow morning for full inspection and he'll tell me if it need a re-bore or not, with any luck as it's a spare engine it wont need a re-bore, it'll just need a set of rings and some shells and we'll be back rolling in 2 weeks time.
I'll be back with an update once I've spoken to Jay tomorrow.
Team shonky style is run a drill hone tool down it and ram a second hand piston in there. What's wrong with you?
Whole day off for surgery? You gay or something
Super jobbie, tinkering goodness. Up at Blyton Park all today playing with Pauls 1600cc in preparation for the rally there next week. Team Shonky will live again mon ami.
You seen our new ride click me gay boyo.
Team shonky will ride again at brands I hope as the other queer hasn't done brands yet!!!
This better Iain??
:edd
Hahaha hot wife is off doing whatever she wants mate!!!
Cos the new shell is going to be a long long way off and I want to carry on doing days this season.

So down at Modus today, stripped and looked at, re-bore needed, the broken ring has spent a while scoring the bore!!!
Rods and crank are absolutely fine so new pistons on order and re-bore this week
Should be back by next week
Timing will be a bit off, probably 2-3 weeks, looks like we'll have to sleeve cylinder 1 then bore it all to 86.5 as we can't find standard 87mm pistons!!
The other option is a TSV block we have in stock and bore that to 86.5 but sleeving the bore is only £200 so by the time I've messed around collecting the block from our stores the £200 is better spent sleeving and it'll be a faster turn around!!

Looks like I caught the ring when putting the piston in. Totally my fault!!
Oil gallery plugs out to clean them out!! Proper job!!
I love looking down a mans clean gudgeon....
Good progress, keep it up.
New shell update, booked in with the media blasters for 2 weeks time. Will be blasted and weld through etch primed, then back up to my man to get started fixing the rust and getting the cage in. Exciting times
Sweet update, love it. Assembly errors... Been there, know the feeling. 😉
sent from my Nokia 6310i using the keypad
Ah now i see. Nice work.
New shell update
My good supplier got me a set of these to replace the ones with the Alcon kit

I love how when you buy proper kit you can tell the difference instantly!!
As well as those some stubby cylinders to go with my pedal box

Slowly collecting the stuff we need.
really nice parts :thumb:
Looking good :d
Some lovely shiny parts, I'd love a proper pedal box for mine, but it just pushes the budget up and up
Brilliant thread mate viewed from start to finish!! P*** take with he who shall not be named robbing you of 4K for the engine rebuild but onwards and upwards buddy you have a mighty fine nova build and have by far inspired me to pull my finger out and get my C20LET block built up and in the nova (cars in standard form at the moment) will start a thread eventually when i decided to start stripping it lol lol lol keep up the good work matey it's threads like these that I myself and most other people love to read :thumb::thumb: I need a team shonky sticker for my nova too ;)
Thanks a lot mate.
This new shell will be like a re-birth, really looking forward to getting it sorted.
TSV is all about having a laugh!! As for a sticker, you need to prove your car is as shit as ours first, well mainly Iain's as mines better!! hahahaahaha
Get a thread going as soon as you start so we can have a look.
Mine doesn't reach over 75 mph without terrible wheel wobble, constant drowning noise from front end does that count mate lol lol you've come so far on the build buddy and I will continue to watch the progress as it progresses over the next weeks/months/years. Some really handy stuff I've came across in your thread that I may "acquire" for my build thread when I actually aren't lazy enough to actually start typing up a build thread lol keep up the magical work mate and hopefully just one day when mines eventually ready to meet the track I'll come and join you and Iain for a track day ;):) so much credit to you sir!! You've had some shit times but still picked yourself up, dusted yourself off and continued with what had to be done +rep for you matey :)
You've got to paint your car spunk colour and claim it's white to get in TSV lol
Pmsl lol lol lol I was actually thinking of a focus Rs diamond white for the nova? Not to sure as after a while it goes a somewhat cream colour but then again it would just look like a massive spunk machine on wheels flying around track lol lol I preferably want a white colour if I were to spray it somewhat that would look gleaming white all the time and not fade after a while :thumb:
Some good news, Darren got over excited when Jay asked him to bore number 1 to 86.5 and see if we could loose the damage, Jay returned 3 hours later to find Darren had, bored and honed all 4, decked the block top and bottom, polished the crank and put the crank back in the block!!!
New pistons arrived at 3pm and are literally going in as I type this, just the head to check Monday morning and possibly skim and I'll be able to collect Tuesday first thing. I wasn't aware they were building it as a short motor but in Jay's words "we can't fucking trust you to do it, cos you're shit".

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...g/IMG_0063.jpg
Also my manifold has come back from blasting and been sprayed in a high temp coating
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...g/IMG_0061.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...g/IMG_0060.jpg
It'll do, it's only a crappy old manifold but it looks a million times better!!!
Should be back in the car Wednesday
That's a quick turnaround, didn't realise you are going all bufty ,bits for the new shell look good ,it's going to be a nice car when completed
