Not that I'm going down the road of saying your doing it wrong like the other chap
But I would take all the original underseal off, could be hiding rust and will be a better finish with another product
Thats fine, Decided a week or so ago that its all coming off now anyway, but i do need to be sure i have finished welding on the floor before i commit to re-applying it. Just little things like braces for extinguishers and fuel pumps etc inside.
Will leave it on until im rubbing down the inside and bay for paint, then it can be the next stage.
Any products you would reccomend? will most likely be applied with a gun.
I used this on the whole underside of my Nova, overpainted with 2k paint and it's been very good for me. http://catalogue.3m.co.uk/en_gb/gb-a...Coating~nocode
Just done mine with gravitex. Brill stuff, was like spraying dulux lol. Spray on nice and thick and itll leave the orange peel effect and cover any small imperfections really well.
Been quietly chipping away at this, but not really getting far. Decided to hoist it up and tackle some of the issues on the underside this week. Since my oil leak many moons ago the whole underside has been coated in engine oil, so cleaned that up first.

Over the years its been jacked up on the chassis rails which has dented them quite badly, so as its getting a refresh under there thought I should straighten them out a bit.

Started with a 3kg slide hammer,

But it wasn't having the desired effect so cut the bad bit out instead.

Made up a plate for the N/S and tacked it in.

Fully welded, then rolled the car over the other way to sort the much worse O/S

A bit messier this side as the sun was shining into the back of my mask.

Stitch welded the ends of the rails as a few of the spot welds had been drilled out when removing the seat mounts. Lucky not to burn the place down too as there was a stray bit of paper inside the car.

Then chose to remove all of the factory underseal as il be re-applying new stuff (U-pol Gravitex)
**** job this. Quite therapeutic, but messy.

Great chassis leg repairs, mine's done the same and squished in slightly. Decided what product you're using yet?
Same as i did on my chassis legs for the same reason. Looks much tidier. (i did the bits the go out to the sills as well)
Ouch on the weldburn...
Yeah I just bought 6ltrs of u-pol gravitex off eBay. Looked like a good deal.
Weld burn is ok, didn't notice until I had a shower.
I did look through your build for inspiration as I knew you had done the same, didn't think of Ian's though.
It's page 183 for reference, can't remember if that's mig or png though.
Yea, like yours mine where bent. The guy that own it before me worked at kwikfit. Looks like he jack it up everyother day..lol
I looked at removing and replacing them, but would have been a ballacke. So cut them open, tapped the sides the plated the tops. Looks much better and strong if you need to jack them there.
