thanks alot 7ova, means lot. cheers for the rep too. :)
benn, i will still be having a dash. as you already know, just because it cant be seen doesnt mean it cant look good. ;)
a new steering rack is on my list tek, this one has always had a knock in it when you turn the steering back from one side to the other. im unsure what colour scheme to go with on rack/tca/tie bars etc. after painting my servo black im quite liking black.

Black FTW mate. Everything else look a bit, well, un-standard.
I need to clean mine up to see their condition, and then decide to paint it if it needs it.

totally mint, cud wrk mate!

Looking really nice pal. It certainly takes a lot of patience & late nights building these things back up, stick with it.

update
this week i cracked on with the blower motor and heater matrix assembly.
as you can see, there in need of a much wanted make over.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...5082010070.jpg
couldnt be bothered rotating the image round. ^^^ lol
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...5082010071.jpg
stripped down both of them and cleaned them off ready for paint.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...5082010073.jpg
took a few attempts to get them painted as the weather has been awful and the paint kept blooming. the foam sealing strips inside on the flap and on the outside of the matrix box were all manky and horrid. i went down to b and q to buy patio door sealing strip, its adhesive on the one side which made it ideal. just hoping it works alright with heat.

in between jobs a set about painting my gear lever, wire wheeled it, whiped over, primed and painted.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0082010090.jpg
then fitted back on(with me forgetting the rubber seal first time round, doh!). i also used moly grease to lubricate the internals.

with wanting to produce a mint car, my sunroof just wont do. has got internal damage somehow and looks nasty. going to have to source a new one from where.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0082010081.jpg
removed the glass, while doing this i noticed theres a slight amount of adjustment available. the back of my sunroof has always been higher than the roof line so hopefully will be able to sort it when i get a new glass.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0082010082.jpg
also removed the sunroof screen as i got my alcantara headlining and cover to go on.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0082010083.jpg
my new headling came with an electric motor to convert it from manual, be a waste not to use it. followed some of benns guide over on migweb, eventually got the motor in place and timed up with the cables. took me a while to sort out as the motor and cable position had never been in the right place.
i used m5 bolts to hold the motor in, they go in the next hole along on the sunroof casette.(as you can see in the pic)

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0082010087.jpg
i have got a video of it working but yet to load it up to photobucket. will do when i got time.
also made some progress on making my rear interior panels, got some of the first template cut and then gave up. will try get them cut out ready to made out of hardboard, which im still unsure if it will be possible to use. time will tell.

Looking good Brucer.
I was lucky enough to have the plastic cover in good nic so it didn't need paint.
That foam weather strip is a sound idea too, will be updating all the foam in my heating system too.
Good work, keep it coming :thumb:

thanks tek, i did paint the base of the blower and the end of the motor too not just the lid. :)
sorted a bit of the car loom today, hopefully have that back in soon.

update
havnt updated this in a while, mainly due to me not doing much to the car. but here's what i have done.
finished off making the templates for the rear interior panels out of card.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0092010101.jpg
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0092010102.jpg
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...0092010104.jpg
i opted to use the 3mm hard board i had to try make the panels. was 2pound odd a sheet so wouldnt matter if it didnt work.
i traced the templates onto the hard board and jigsawed them out. i scored down the backside several times where i wanted the board to curve. i teased the scores slightly to bend a curve into it untill i was happy.

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...8092010114.jpg
ill be buying the material and foam to trim them next week hopefully, still got to cut them down to meet in the middle and drill the holes to mount them.
i removed my brake servo to re-paint as i didnt like the finish. wasnt smooth and could see wire wheel marks in it. rubbed it back down and gave it a few coats of black and laquer. came out much better this time.

have been busy the past couple of days painting the one garage floor. ill get round to the second garage at some point. with the floor being painted ill happily be able to roll around on it whilst messing with the car. :d

NIce work dude, wish my garage was that bare. Got so much crap in our garage that I can just about walk down the offside of the Nova. Really not good.
Alcantara headlining sounds good. I'll be going for an Alcantara one too
