Big smiles there then:thumb: , i bet it'll be brutal when you swap the controller.
Nice to see its still being tweaked.

Excellent results there Joff! Phase 2 rocks! My boost curve is a bit like that on p2.
Nice results Joff, what turbo are you using ? was did the boost peak at and then hold ?
Using a KKK Turbo Technics hybrid sourced from Wallace Performance.Quote:

I know a lot of people hate overboost but I think its great for normal driving. Generally means you don't have to rev past 5k.
I stand corrected - just looked at the boost graph - peaked at 1.3 bar (18 psi) at 4750 then dropped back to 0.9 bar (13 psi)Quote:

I think EDS tends to run rich.
This was my graph with actuator set to 15psi and holding 10psi.

It now peaks at 22psi and drops to 18ish but can fall to 13. Fuelling is fine at 22psi. On standard kkk with a gas flowed head.
With a AVCR you can have that holding 18psi through the whole rev range.
is that enough for you yet joff or are you gonna be crossing over the 300 mark
Excellent results mate :D Cant wait to get mine together and on the rollers!
Keith
I'd say if that is the turbo I think you have then with good boost control you will see over 300hp.
Awesome result that.
Get a manual boost controller so that you can set it to hold the higher boost level
EDIT-Didn't noticed it had already been mentioned about holding the boost lol
I'm pleased and honoured to say that this thread has now had over ....
I think this may be a PNG/Novaload record for a WIP thread for now - although Keith R is catching up !! lol lol
Cheers for all the comments and views over the last few years & see you all at PVS'08
Joff
Just had a read through this thread and looked at the photos. Some serious workmanship has gone into this Nova. Top marks to you, and congratulations on your TV feature. Well deserved. Good figures from the RR aswell, animal i bet!?
Im currently rebuilding my Nova at the moment, and your rebuild has given me encouragement and motivation to get it done, as been abit slack as of late!
Its been a while since I have made any changes but I did a bit more tinkering today .....
I sourced an Apexi boost controller on the advice of the chaps at The Racing Line who set up the car last year. I've had the controller about 6 months so I thought I'd best get it fitted before this years season kicks off in earnest!
I thought about the best place to put the controller and have come up with here .....

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ova/Apexi2.jpg
Seems to nestle quite nicely on the end of the dash and is in easy reach for the all important tweaking when setting up.
Just need to figure out the wiring - the instruction manual says this :-
Apexi Loom-----------GM Loom
Red-------------------Black (ignition switched positive)
Purple-----------------Green (RPM signal)
Green-----------------Earth
Black------------------Earth
Grey------------------????? (throttle signal)
White-----------------Blue/red (speed signal from digidash transducer)
Anyone know on the C20LET which wire to use for the throttle sensor wire (as the C20LET has five wires going to the TPS)
Also have these in the box ......
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ova/Apexi4.jpg
This above is the boost sensor - easy to plumb in from the feed to the fuel pressure regulator.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ova/Apexi3.jpg
Now this part above has me foxed a bit - I assume this will take the place of the amal value (which will be left wired in) but I am unsure which pipes should go where - any advice much appreciated !
Joff
Can't help you with the wireing Joff, however i'll be interested when you find out! good to see you back updating.
id have a word with G8WCC (gareth) as he's got one on his iirc, sure hes got some pics on his wip.
pm'ed
OK,
With a bit of searching and some advice I think I now have this sussed ....
The Apexi grey wire for the TPS should be attached to a brown green wire here ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...0LEtwiring.jpg
Which on the multiplug is pin 53 .....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...C20LETpins.jpg
So thats the wiring issue sorted ! The plumbing bit I think goes from the standard piping which looks like this ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ontroller1.jpg
To this with the Apexi controller....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...troller1-1.jpg
Can you chaps confirm this is the correct way of plumbing in. Basically capping off the pipe to the turbo and the controller has the wastegate pipe on COM and the breather pipe on NC.
Cheers
Joff
hey joff got some pics and diagrams on my computer at home will pm them over to you myn is different as im running an external waste gate but ill work the plumbing out for you and send it over later
that flocked dash looks f*cking wicked mate!!
How you getting on with the boost controller Joff?
Not quite got the hang of it yet - still sorting the gear learn stuff so I can limit boost in 1st and 2nd.Quote:

this is 1 realy nice nova its give me some idears for mine was there a lot of modifcashion to do for the corsa b dash to fit in ?
Did you ever get the boost controller setup Joff? Thinking about purchasing one.
Thats the best way mate! Get some one else to do it!Quote:

I dont think he has had it fully done yet Keith as his nova has been in storage over winter, should be out soon though as i saw him at weekend and its MOT time next couple of weeks:thumb:
LOL cheers Spudly :)
Ill give him a text aswell to let him know youre still wanting his feedback on it too, my mate had one on his n/a nissan almera and he swore by it as even on the standard ecu setup he could tweak his air fuel mixture at any point through the rev range and he got some impressive power from that so should be perfect for a turbo, albeit very complicated, he tried to run me through it and i was like
lol
^ it does sound mega confusing! But if it gets you more power would be worth it ha ha!
Sorry Keith , wasn't ignoring you, for some reason I didn't get any emails telling me there were replies to my thread.Quote:

You can actually tweak it while driving along so you can feel the immediate effects of the changes.
I haven't set up the in gear learning option yet, something to sort in the next few weeks . I think I will get it on the rollers again so I know its set up at the optimal settings.
And yes it needs an MOT shortly - booked in for Saturday morning.
Joff
Cheers Joff, I'd be interested in seeing the power curve with the new settings. I'll keep an eye out for an Apexi too, sounds like a great bit of kit.
Such a brilliant project. Seen this at the shows and spent alot of time walking around it!
Any updates Joff?
He weighed it in and bought a cat c Zafira for his wife lolQuote:

This coupled with the fact that I have some job dependant exams that I need to pass this year (no exam passes = dismissal from job come January 2012) makes my time even more limited for projects.
Such is the call on my time this year it will be unlikely that the nova will be taxed and pulled out of winter storage this year.
Once I have my exams sorted , which should be (touching lots of wood) by October this year I will be able to resume the trailer project and get the tubo changed over.
The joys of being a financial adviser!

Know exactly what you're going through buddy! Bet your glad you left barclays too!!
Never worked for Barclays, I'm with the other high street bank which didn't have to take government money.Quote:
