Small update lol have finished mocking the door hinges up in aluminium they are bein tig'd this week. Welded up the fuel filler hose ready for paintin and am considering adding the strengthing kit to the engine bay and getting the bay re painted while my mate is painting the outside. But I haven't decided yet. New battery turned up so it's now on a dry cell race battery.
Oh yeah and I gave had a major self inflicted fcuk up. Managed to short the starter out on sat and start a little oil fire. Causing a problem with the ecu/ fuel system. Then Sunday set the rear brake lines on fire. Not a good weekend for the car lol
Pics to follow
boom boom boom let me here you say weyo, WEYYYYOOOO

Its going to My mates paintshop next weekend so he can colour in the outside and boot floor area but I'm not sure if i should rattle can the engine bay or get him to paint it properly.
We fabricated the aluminuim hinges by getting some 4mm and some 5/8 (16mm) aluminium bar. I had the bar turned into barrels on the lathe at work 25mm in length with a 8mm hole in the middle. We then cut and filed the plate to match the contour of the door lines and drilled four 5mm holes in the hinge and through the door skin, then tapped the hinges to M6.using some M6x20mm button head stainless bolts, they were threaded through the hinge and the head was smeared with epoxy glue so they wont wind back out. the holes in the door skin were enlarged to 10mm so there is movement to adjust the door. we then copied the hole pattern on another piece of aluminium to go on the inside of the door. which we tigthened up using M6 washers and nyloc nuts.
Anybody needs pic see the post above thanks Gareth
Good pregress mate... still going fast show? or is that a bit too much in too short time?
I think I might let you have this victory mate lol:p
Seriously though I was gonna get it painted after the fast show but my mate has got loads of work book from april and he kept pushing his work load around so he could fit in my car. So if I dont do it now it will be a few months before he could do it again :(
It didnt take two hours to get the engine out did it?
Time flys when ya having fun eh lol
it aint fun when your playing with that pain in the **** lol
Looking good Gareth now you have the doors all lined up, rivet the alloy plates to the door so if you have to remove the doors they will fit back on exactly where they were. Thats how we did mine anyway and it works perfectly. ;)
Going monday, they were still sat on their floor when he went over on friday ! doh Good for me as I wanted the Corsa ones in a different black but no good for you as more bloody delays, I'm told their going monday and will be back mid week so you may have a present for next weekend.
If you remove the pins you might find it changes where it sits which is why we did it the other way.
Gotta be so careful about the drain on a dry cell when not in use; I'm on my 3rd & just made a retaining bracket since it's not a standard size.
Those weld on turret tops are the most pointless things ever - the shell fails turret to body / legs not at the top.
Doors look excellent - I suppose polycarbs are the only way now. If I ran those I reckon i'ud be a good 40kg lighter :o
The Odyssey batteries are a huge improvement over the other brands IMO, mine has sat for a long time now and I just recently used it without any problems.
Have to agree with jonlem, we used one for 12months to jump start various vans and rally cars without even charging it back up. Then put it back on the Subaru and it started that as well lol
BR it has poly carb windows im putting the poly carb windows back in it. I'm not expecting to leave the battery for months but Ive took the terminals off anyway lol.
Cheers for the comments
let get ready to rumble, lets get ready to rumbllllle, get ready, get steady, and rumble, everybody rumble!!
Evening all. Best thought Id give an update. I now have both doors hung and level sitting nice. all the strengthening kit is welded in im not happy with some of the welds so im gonna grind them back and sort it out. Im taking the windscreen back out and finish off the engine bay and hopefully on sat afternoon it will be going for its re colour. on the engine bay outside and boot floor ready for a busy year. Im hoping it will be back in a couple of weeks to put all the stuff back together ready for fun
Will this be a drag only car or will be used on track days too?
Bits didn't turn up today, he reckons tomorrow or friday latest.
Will be worth the wait ;)
