I managed to get an xe in a nova, and I can't even fit a sun strip...
that was the plan engine crane one side and jack the other side, the jack sliped and the engine swinged in to the side of the engine bay nearly knocked the car off the axle stands
so I won't be doing like that again, now I've walked away from it know what I need to do, loop the left side next inlet manifold to the right hand side of the exhaust manifold, do the same on the olds side of them so it forms a cross the lift it from the middle, simple really but couldn't get my head around how do it after it pissed me off

if you are short of slings. use fan belts and timing belts. get a handful of good shackles though. cross sling a belt between the OE lifting lugs and put the hoist across the middle of it.
alternatively you can buy a 'spreader bar' pretty cheaply which is like a bar with 2 hoist points and the center point can be adjusted side to side with a handle as it moves the CoG across on a piece of screwed rod.
makes it an easy one man job.
Finding out the HS2 plans run within 400 yards of my front door. And straight through my uncles farm. Fanks government.
It'll be elevated as well, to clear an existing local line half a mile away and a dual carriageway, so it's not like it'll be discreet.
TJ. Get yourself a pallet or 2 and get the engine and box on that level and at the height it would be when in the car. Then use the engine crane to lift the car over the top and down onto it. Bolt the engine in and the jack the car up (or lift it with the engine crane) to remove the pallet.
i found out HS2 isnt going to run near my house. :(
