Really good attention to detail mate, also picked up Retro Cars last night - The old saloon looks awsome man!!!
Thanks for all your comments on both the cars - thought i'd try something a little different from the usual hole saw affair and the triangles have come out well.
I'm going to be utilising the hole saw shortly though lol
There will be no car left soon lol.
Love the pillar weight loss.
In the week i'm going to see were else i can remove material from - all of the usual places will be getting abused as well as some other areas....;)Quote:

Right like i said yesterday tissues to hand people i have had another weight loss session lol
It started like this -nothing out of the ordinary
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats160.jpg
I decided to try and remove as much as possible

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats164.jpg
Then i went in search of some more unneeded material

Last time i counted i had over 40 holes  and i haven't finished yet!!!
I wasn't 100% satisfied that there was enough material being removed with just the holes so i went for the old trick of joining some up

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats171.jpg
And the remains so far

WOOT WOOT! i'm going to attack the shell again tomorrow the rear panel is getting some more abuse.....
holly moly
Correct swiss funking cheese!!!
all i can say is what the funk lol
Are you getting fibre glass doors????
No i'm not getting F/G doors at the moment they are to expensive and mine are pretty light now anyway....why is 'what the funk' all you can say?
cause as ernie said the other day you will have no car left at this rate
Probably.....lol
Dont go to mad as you'll lost alot of strenth, wouldnt it be easier to hollow out the inner bits of the quaters in sted of cutting the holes in them?
That will weight more..
Love the holes tho you crazy holemofo.
In its current state i don't believe i have lost 'alot of strength' the hollowing out would cause more strength loss imo.....
Is that what you call "Mint"?
 as in the polo?
lol yes
lol
I ment the rear pannel, but thinking of where the holes are shouldnt be a prob.Quote:

heres some links to images of some of my weight loss ideas, most of them for very little gains but oh well, havnt had time to read thru your whole thread so dont be too annoyed if its things you have already tried or arent applicable.

also things like using a heated screen to remove the heater/fan/control and piping, cutting the inner webbing off the bumpers and removing all irons, hollowing out the GSi spoiler, stripping all unused wires from the loom etc etc etc it all counts at the end of the day.
cant wait till i get a spare evening to have a look thru and see what else i can spot that might be of use, from what ive seen there seems to be a bit more method being used than on many lightweight cars!
to Kenny
I think cutting the complete inner rear 1/4's would lose a bit of strength wouldnt it?
i dont know just my thought
surely these strength comments are all on the provado that Novas are actually structually strong anyway lol :wtf:
Its all a waste of time anyway as he'll proabably stuff it on the first corner OllyTB style at Donny - remember that one Olz! lol There's a vid somewhere.
do i ever lol that was hilarious... ahhh well... that was another Oliver that couldn't keep up with me lol lol lol

what strength does that area actually have?Quote:

if you rolled the car that area would be negated by the pillars around it (which in turn would be negated by the rollcage)
in a side impact that material was also fairly useless, but as there are never going to be rear passengers, and nova shells are ten a penny anyway im happy enough to ignore that.
one thing ive never seen the sense in removing is the floor mounted crossmember under the front seats, as that would im my opinion be a handy thing to have around when you skelp something side on!
Hi mate when you do get the time to read through the rest of my wip (admittedly it may take a while lol) you will see i have already considered 90% or more of what you have said and rightly agree.Quote:
