New parts looking yummy! Why the bike rear box? Looking good as per! keep up the good work! One day I would love to do the same but with a c20let...or newer!
I just like the thought of a bike can lol and they are light.
And hopefully the gaz's will come soon
Thanks
How much where the shocks if you dont mind me asking pal?
Hey mate. They came to about 230 delivered I think.
The cheapest uprated I could find
Avo's Came to 280 or so.
braved the wet and cold today and went and done some bits on the chevette.
this arrived in the post. bonus points for what im using it for lol.

onto the throttle linkage, i was always worried about this because the pedal isnt the normal type when you just stick a block on top. it has a weird linkage which i wanted to use.
this is the main part of it
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/0d118a49.jpg
i had a bright spark and made this.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/36dc6035.jpg
ground of the ball joint. and opened the hole out to 8mm
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/1100195d.jpg
and assembled back on the car
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/b2abb619.jpg
worst case. if it fails then the throttle will snap shut and kill the engine so i wont die!
continued with the cooling
please ignore the mix of colours lol.
first hose all in place, just need some jubliee clips
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/e36e73ee.jpg
also decided to use the standard water pipe as it gave me more outlets.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/9f580708.jpg
and not alot of room in here for the end pipe!
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/28be0dac.jpg
Your not going to run that front pipe like that are you? Would be much nicer with a bent metal pipe with just two small silicone connectors?
if you can make me one... or find me one...Quote:

boring but important update
measured how big i need my steering restricters to be,
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/ac3f006c.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/4a3b5cb2.jpg
Why do you need to restrict the steering?
because of the bigger brakes. they want to hit the lower arms.
it only needs doing by a small amount :)
whats that big bit of ally for then? haha :)
a small update
not alot gone on. but i needed to buy a welder to carry on as mine is fully dead.
so i got this.

New bits look good!

looking good martin
Just for reference
http://www.simtekuk.co.uk/www.simtek...earch=&sought=
as it says it works with this one - which looks just like the coolant sensor lol.

You got an old i-phone with your ECU, strange...
lol
Good to see your still cracking on mate, i honestly thought this project would go tits up, glad its not.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/07fddd51.jpg
lol well you should know i take the piss a bit, dont we all!
That weld dose look nice! strange how for all these years people lead you to bealive that welding is some dark art thats hard to learn, from what ive found 85% is the welder/setup the rest is down to practice!
yeh its proper nice.Quote:

this is proven from a guy at work, never welded before, and he wants to train, so with our big powerful welders, we set him up, and after a couple of hours he can weld "ok". couple of 8 hour days later and he is 70% there!
Welding is an art, wait til you weld upside down, where the torch barely fits in 3mm onto 1mm, you cant get you head near with the mask on, thats the hard bit.
Hey Guys,
after paul gave me a visit yesterday, he suggested some things for the chevette and its cooling system, about how it would be hard to get the main pipe to the bottom of the rad.
so i brain stormed and came up with a very simple soloution - turn over the rad.
it worked wonders, and this is my old coolant pipe vs the new one.
old
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/e36e73ee.jpg
new
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/08bc4e32.jpg
also have the pipework for the inlet manifold water pipe
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/a41ad8f3.jpg
and finished of the heater matrix.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/e0d348e4.jpg
all i have left now, is the header to the spare outlet on the black plastic pipe and the big outlet on the black plastic pipe to the bottom rad.
this is my idea atm - will the pipe melt if it runs next to the exhaust...
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/1099b466.jpg
wouldn't run that pipe there mate tbh imo it will melt
looking good tho
yeh thats my thoughts.
could i heat protect it?
run an alloy piece?
hmm options lol.
you could run a piece of alloy pipe
is that just going to heat the coolent right up tho ?
this is my current plan.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...oolanthose.jpg
but as you say it will heat it up no end.
the exhaust will be heat wrapped.
Your header tank needs to be on the other wing really.
Regards to that pipe cant you run it the other side of the wing, holesaw 2 holes through it?
god paul you come up with some great ideas lol.Quote:

and as for the pipe i will need to have a look at the suspension set up as it all sits very close there. but certainly an idea.
paul - you are a legend
just went and flipped it to the other side (one advantage of having the car on the drive lol) and not the routes are alot better for the cooling.
will have to relocate the FPR but it wont be an issue.
have a ****ty picture
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/85c8e189.jpg
Best to plan things more dude, its like the saying mesure twice cut once!
And again its a cooling system, keep any pipes well clear of the manifold dude!
thanks scott.
im one of those people who will think about most possibilities. but this is my first time lol, im still learning.
im glad someone else has come along and said it. im very open to learning a batter way etc.
some rosejoint sexyness for the panhard rod.
and a plug for the coolant sensor donated by damen.
thanks alot dude.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/5bdebdde.jpg
some more small bits sorted, crank sensor, temp sensor, TPS sensor, and the coil pack sensor. - only two missing which i have already.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/2f5883f0.jpg
TPS in place
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/7840ea9b.jpg

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/5d14bc31.jpg
and finally new expansion tank place and pipe work (thanks paul)
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/5fbb7952.jpg
just done a small amount more.
pulled of the old windscreen washer pipe work
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/682c365e.jpg
worked some magic with new pipe work - looks so much better
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/b3ed2a4a.jpg
and also picked up some jubliee clips.
