I will see how it looks with both seats in and actually how far back from the pedals the drivers seat is so i can decide what to do.....
  lolQuote:

To start i collected these yesterday what a bargain!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats085.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats087.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats086.jpg
And they are a wicked size for what i want (to fit the wide arches)
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats084.jpg
I then looked in to this seat all the way back idea - and can confirm it won't be happening atm as i can't see any real gain over the current seat position.
Moving the seat requires quite a lot more work (handbrake, and steering column etc) but it will only go back about another 2inches before it fouls he cage so isn't worth the effort imo.
Here is the seat as far back as it will go before it fouls the cage - see the top left corner
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats088.jpg
all the way back on its subframes not that much room behind the seat
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats089.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats091.jpg
the seats are nearly level at this point
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats090.jpg
But here is the catch - i can still reach the pedals so they wouldn't need moving but i can't reach the hand brake or shifter comfortably
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats092.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats093.jpg
So i can't see the point in all that faf for 2 inches esp as there is no major gain other that its cool....
The seat sits like this in its current position
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats094.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats095.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats096.jpg
This gives a comfortable seating position, with good sight to the off and near side (which is important to me as it will be road legal and i like to see lol) and means i don't have to alter anything!
If all that made no sense at all i'm glad as it means im not the only one who didn't understand lol.
So to summarise i don't think there is any reason to change what i already have as there is little to any gain to be had for the effort involved.
Once i had finished funking around i got on with something more productive - one for my man Oli
I got rid of the entire old seat mounting
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats097.jpg
leaving this mmmmm weight loss
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats102.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats103.jpg
I then moved on to the cage....again. (Its almost done now thank funk)
I took the cage out of the car to weld the spreader plates in as so
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats098.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats099.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats100.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats101.jpg
I then slipped the cage back in (yer its like that easy) to drill all the holes for the mounts and tag in points.
Swarf in your hand anyone???
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats104.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats105.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats106.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats107.jpg
i'm really please with how these have turned out
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats108.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats109.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats110.jpg
And the tag in points
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats111.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats112.jpg
Now the cage is completely sorted fitment wise i whipped it out again (the cage that is lol) so i can paint it.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats113.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats114.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats115.jpg
And finally while i was clearing away i took so more of my new MO's what a bargain
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats116.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats117.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats118.jpg
That was it for today - should be getting on with the rear arches shortly, along with some more strengthening and perhaps some paint :thumb: :thumb:
Nice wheels :D
Good work, liking the cage fitment pics, just what i needed.
Strange how your Mo's are identical to mine, but mine are only 6j width.
Comp do countless different offset and width combinations.Quote:

you pic/weld whore you lol
Loves it mate
Loving the weight saving on the seat mounts, I think I still have some of mine left. i'm not great with the spot weld drill and it started to look like someone had removed mine with an axe, so i gave up :(
The cage spreaders/mounts look
Thanks for your views on the wheels - its good to have some decent visual content imo as threads are soooo boring otherwise and the pics help others attempting such tasks such as Adam - glad to be of help!.
Oli and for anyone else who cares the metal I removed from the original seat mounts weighed in at 2.2kgs
Anyway no major events to update on tonight as i have had a well over due clean up resulting in this
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats126.jpg
there is quite a lot of sh!te there considering i try and clean up as much as possible after i've finished work on the car for the night as i hate starting back at it the next day with cr@p everywere. Most of this came from various corners around the shell and all those filings from drilling.
Then once every thing was clean i flipped the shell over again
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats124.jpg
Giving better acces for prep and painting inside the shell (as i can stand inside the shell through the door and rear window hole) , sorting how much i need to cut the rear arches up for the wideness, measuring up for the rear diffuser, plating the front panel and working out how much wider my bottom arms need to be with my new spacers (not the conventional ones i may add....details to follow lol) as well as tidying up under the front arches were i extended them etc etc ect.
Nice big garage!
Look at you getting arty with the wheel pics.
Its Olly's fault, ive noticed on loads of WIP threads people are posting arty shots of various things lol lol
isn't the plastic bit in ur sweep up pile off the brake servo?
just been threw every page mate well impressed with the amount of work and skill that has gone into this car :)
best of luck to u
Top stuff James!
The garage is great and yer sorry i was getting a bit :gay:over the pics of the wheels...Adam your right it is Ollys fault lolQuote:

I stone chipped under the front turrets and in the inner wings
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats130.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats131.jpg
Then i made a start on the paint prep on the inside of the car (warning this does include some extreme weight saving measures please have a tissue to hand at all times lol)
Just a general clean at first
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats132.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats133.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats134.jpg
Then i made up some strengthening plates for the front panel (these are the only chassis strengthening plates i am fitting)
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats136.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats141.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats142.jpg
And they go here
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats143.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats144.jpg
At this point i decided i would go back to the interior and remove the final remains of that tar like cr@p
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats145.jpg
A wire wheel on a drill proved to be the best method
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats146.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats147.jpg
After finishing that off i though i would have a go at some more weight saving measures...it started like this
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats153.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats154.jpg
That then progressed to this
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats155.jpg
And then this
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats157.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats158.jpg
And the other side
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats149.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats150.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats152.jpg
The remains
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats151.jpg
:thumb: :thumb:
How much you saved there count?
Good point....not loads but every little helps and there is more to come lol
That's pretty cool, love the triangulation theory lol Also picked up retro cars on friday, love your not-so-furry dice :thumb:
lol i was genuinely asking, i want to do a bit of weight saving on mine in places that can be hidden and are not sacraficing too many comforts, as you say, every little helps lol
Constantly enjoying the updates James, keep them coming, the saloon looks excellent in RC, I must of red it five times already
