No worrie's oh and the seat's use to belong to Chris T before Olly lol his car has parts all over the club!
Looking good so far :thumb:
A few words of wisdom on the seat rails :
You may find the spacing on the rails doesn't match the holes on the bottom of the seat mounts (You've probably checked this already - but not took pictures lol )
If your drilling straight through the box section - the correct method is to insert/weld a tube into the box section so it doesn't collapse/crush when tightening down the seat mount - personally I can't see your box section collapsing when bolting down the seats - but thats what the experts say !!!
The easy fix for this (The above 2 problems on my project resulted in the following -) is to weld brackets to the box section and drill to suit the spacing on your seat mounts :

Or there is the way mine were done, use some L shaped section steel.
You can gain access to the nut/bolt from front/back side of each section and there's no chance they will fold as it's an L shape ;)

Thanks people advice taken on board...but i can see the box collapsing either lol
Hi everyone not really an update as i haven't done much mainly due to this taking over my evening
http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116201 :D
I did however get the drivers seat mounted, I started by fitting the seat to the sub frames then resting it on the new rails and positioning it in a comfortable position.
I found the most comfortable position for the seat was the front slightly turned in towards the centre of the car and the seat close to the exhaust tunnel.
Once it was positioned i clamped the subframes down and removed the seat allowing me to mark out the holes as so

Then i drilled the holes and fitted it all back into place - it fits yay!

:)
PS the box didn't collapse lol
Looking good dude, love the lit up pics a few pages back too.
Good work.

Thanks Andrew i think i haven't ever been called a little sea dog before lol
haha, first time for everything!
Keep up the good work though, its genuinly made me excited about starting my track car again.
Oh, and congrats on the saloon feature
Got on with the other seat rails tonight
Started with this
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats072.jpg
Tacked it all in as before allowing for slight adjustments to make sure everything was level
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats073.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats074.jpg
And the front rail
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats076.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats075.jpg
Then welded it in and drilled the holes for the subframes

The passenger seat is further back and lower down allowing fro better weight placement in the car and it also gives the driver a better view to the N/S :thumb:
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats077.jpg
And here is the seat in place - quite close to the cage

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ndseats080.jpg
Ive also repaired all the holes in the floor where the spot weld removal didn't go as planned lol
Is the pass seat so far back to keep the weight in the middle?
Where the battrey going? Lot of peeps have them behind the pass seat for the same weight in the middle reasoning.
Yes mate the seat is positioned for weight distribution reasons - the battery will be going in the N/S/R corner of the car to counter balance the drivers weight in the front :thumb:
the reason why i put mine in the n/s/r corner to try and counter drivers weight top project whne you think itll all be finished? your making pretty fast progress
If you are going to all this trouble why didn't you make the driver's seat as far back as the passengers?
James are you going soft, I thought you were a hardcore weight saving freak like myself :( Battery in the back means an exessively long cable run, the seat mounts need chopping down also, I do like the removal of the cross brace on the floor, I know it's not revolutionary nowadays, but when I built mine it wasn't the done thing to remove them, out with the spot weld drill for me :)

A very good question - the answer being i'm not sure when it will be finished asap lolQuote:

You need that floor cross brace removed.
I have seen the error in my ways and also agree....Lee 303 styleee as i'm only 6ft :DQuote:

Is it a nice small redtop type battery? Either in front of or under the passengers legs/feet, their comfort shouldn't be a priority PMSL. or is there space between the seats? Or seeing as you like fabricating stuff, how about in the quarter behind the passenger seat, make some little box
It will be a nice small red top battery but i haven't purchased it yet...i think in front of the passengers feet/foot rest is the best place but your box in the quarter idea sounds good if there is enough room - i will look.Quote:

Check this for dedication 3.48am!!! I think that the gains provided by moving the seat back wouldn't be measurable in terms of lap time... however it may give you kudos in the pits... your call tbh, is it worth the outlay for the R.E.S.P.E.C.T lol
3.54! and every little helps? lol
Alright you win...no wait I'm here again!
**** this I'm off to bed, see ya'll tomorrow with ma hangoverrrrr
morning what did i miss lol
