Hi All, small update time...... As you may have seen in previous pics Don had covered my original baseplates for my manta mirrors in carbon too however he did say "how about just making some from carbon itself?" But as the baseplates I had made were an excellent fit I told him to cover then anyhow but to put me some carbon sheet in with the bits he had done for me so I could at a later date look into this. But now my original plates have been covered they are obviously thicker and heavier (as they were made from stainless) So I passed some of dons carbon sheet to a engineer friend of my dads who previously made my original plates. Dons sheet comes covered front and back in a stickerback metal to make it easier to cut to shape without damaging the carbon inside.....
My covered stainless plate....

Plates made up from carbon sheet.... (You can just see where the exposed carbon where I peeled the edge back.)

Then I gently by aid of some pliers peeled back the sheet......

The above was quite painstaking tbh as I really didnt want to crack the plates but I eventually got both sides done undamaged and prepared them for coat of lacqeur after work tommorow eves. Really glad Don suggested this as they are super light and will look and fit better than the ones he did for me, Thanks Don!...........
