Then i wasn't quite happy with the mating surface on the water way housings so i decided to mill it flat

This bring us to today - as the weather was complete toss i decided to start on the engine properly as its inside in the dry.

The weather had improved slightly so to save the mess getting every were inside i dragged the engine outside - the light was better too!

IIRC this fuel pump support bracket needs swapping with the one from the 1.5td as it doesn't stick out was much

Once most of the dirt was off i decided to take he sump off

It was at this point when, what was going to be a simple strip down, clean up and replace a few gaskets turned in to a full rebuild as disaster had struck

The engine ran fine, looked fine and showed no other signs of wear or failure but i had come this far and didn't want to risk it so (even though i'm not sure if i can get the nuts, studs, and bearings)
