True, but then if thats the case you might as well say chris astleys vxr idea is a waste of time due to the cost of the engine in the first place plus all the fab involved.
Im absolutely all for breaking new ground in the hobby, and encouraging stuff, as is everyone else, but the fact is you can make a nova go just as well, if not better than it would with a VTec in it. Therefore the only viable reason for sticking a VTec in a nova is to wave your dick around at car shows lol
I can relate to that! Some people like to show off their fabrication skills and imagination, fair play I say!
The thing that gets my goat is some people actually think it will make the thing go better than it will with a vauxhall lump with the same money thrown at it as a complicated hybrid transplant, wether its a LC engine, a Vtec, or a fecking Jet Engine!
The same thing applied to the guy building the 4x4 and I stand by it. Bloody brilliant for the hobby, brilliant for us when its finished, a testiment to the guy building it, but it WONT be any better than a normal nova running eqivilent power, unless you took them onto a rally stage or a very wet race track lol
Yes its a subject that always attracts a lot of banter, but who cares, if you can't take a bit of stick over the idea, i doubt you'll handle the conversion itself lol
Steve... Chris Astleys conversion makes a lot of sense, as it WILL be better than anything you can do with older generation stuff compared to his cost of doing it. Well over 220 reliable bhp from a smallblock isnt possible with the older stuff :)
^ well said Lee :thumb:
The engine box and all ancillaries have covered approximately 1k, and cost less than a 120k LET engine alone...Quote:

The cost of the engines are still too high and the fab work would put off alot of decent mechanics, whereas the xes are all pretty much 'off the shelf' conversions.
Im glad chris is doing the vxr nova but its a bit too early for it too become a common conversion.
ahhhh...Novaload is back :D
If you want to be differant why go bigger? 600cc bike engine - job done
its only because it has vvvvvtec
I doubt it will become a common conversion ever TBH. Chris is the ideal candidate to do it first as he's massively experienced, and has a big wad of parts in his shop to delve into.Quote:

BUT the end result should be better than anything you can achieve at the moment with the normal smallblock's that go into Nova's.. so its worthwile doing.
A VTEc, which weighs a ton and would need the whole engine bay redesigning, just to get the same power as a reasonable XE and less torque... isnt :)
I agrre but I reckon once word gets out that you can put a VXR into a nova there will be a few more people giving it a go. Mostly beacuse they know it can be done and if they get stuck theres someone to ask whereas the v-tec is unknown to anyone. (for obvious reasons lol)
Z-cars bike conversion kit for a saxo would be the way to go.Quote:

Zcars conversions are awesome, but far too much money!
Couple of caterhams /westfields whatever they were at totb the other year with exactly that an I pull faster times than both. Not sure what they got this last year though. Would be great fun to drive though lolQuote:

How well do you think they would do against your car around a track:pQuote:

They are best suited really to the super light kit car end of the range. Plus they are so popular they have got pretty pricey
All those at the bridgewater meet last year may recall that tatty SR, with some chavvy kids in it, saying his mate was fitting a VTEC for ?500 lol
I'd get OWNED properly lol lolQuote:

Who was it on here a while ago that said one of their mates had trouble controlling his 106 when it came on "GTI", lol as that was a classic
I have that problem when mine comes on Ecotec
Mine tended to just 'Come On', much like females, and throw all its rods out the block for no apparent reason.
