Good work Nick :D
amazing Nick.
wish i had the motivation some of you guys have lol
Now for the astra... Yesterday evening the astra was on the lift and all wheels were removed, All tyre beads were broken then the wheels were prepared and painted. I've only done the faces at the moment as I was unsure how the colour would look but I opted for it after using it for Andy bishops wheels earlier in the year which look great on the car imo, Apologies for no prep and paint pics as I actually forgot my camera but heres the final result.........

Also While the wheels were off last night I attacked the brake calipers and prepared them for some nice black paint too as they havent been painted before and looked rather ugly! This morning was spent removing the old reg plates and rusty screws to replace them with new euro plates and sticky pads also I had a wander to see a valeter that works with me as he has a massive pile of floor matts and got myself some free ones! Below are some more pics now the bodyworks all finished I'm really pleased with the final look.

I'm now currently deciding what to do with this..........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1194716447
As I dont think it looks good at all. I thinking of removing the whole vent and replacing it with either a plate cut to suit etc or putting back a standard vent and using an a pillar pod etc any other ideas welcomed!
Great work, looks awesome. Such a cool "runabout" :D
For a runabout, that car is fooking awesome,Lol.
Looks sweet.
A nice runabout but its let down by a cut up front bumper and with the standard of your nova i feel you could do alot better
A simple gsi front bumper and rear spoiler swap would make a nice runabout a possible show car
keep up the good work and get some back to black on the tyres :)
Thanks, without doubt there is room for improvements with extras that could be added etc however I'd much rather spend that cash on the nova and keep upping the standard of that instead, The astra will never be a show car not while I own it anyhow! As for the tyre black etc I havent put any on for the reason that a lot of them use certain chemicals that can mark fresh paintwork and with the wheels being painted under 24hrs ago I think I'll leave it a week or two! Aha I was waiting for someone to spot that! There are no fogs John only the lenses as the fog units have been removed because they'd foul the cooler pipes, The red you can see is the cooler pipework! They were'nt that visible before but when I degreased everything they are now quite visible!Quote:

I'm sure putting the money into a house is the right thing to do, although not as much fun... maybe.
Good luck with the sale, yet again another Nova I wish I could afford. The Astra too.
Craig, thanks for the kind words fellaQuote:

Very nice cars NJ,real shame you have to sell up,1 day you will progress to better cars,in the mean time buy another :thumb:
Thanks, but Ive tried that... m3 conv, tvr, imprezas etc I've had some very nice toys but for me as daft as it sounds the nova always comes out on top !! I've had loads of them and in time I'd like to think I will have another!Quote:

Hi All, well as some of you may have read my astra went to its new home today which I was quite gutted about, so I thought Id get busy and work on some new parts I've been actually been waiting for around three months for these to arrive! Last year I added carbon door/quarter cards and steering cowel so Inside wise I thought a carbon boot panel would compliment these however the finished articles dont have the best finish so as I did with my door and quarter cards I prepped them for a few coats of high build lacqeur......
All prepared......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1195923223
Also after attending trax this year I had my eye on another part I wanted to acquire to make my engine bay look neater etc So I also had this made up in carbon fibre...
Battery tray cover prepared....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1195923440
Then I lacqeured them........

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1195923742
There are some air holes in the carbon weave after these first few coats but I will be rubbing them down once again shortly and re-lacqeuring them to seal/fill these in and give an even deeper finish etc.
Also I carried on with my rocker cover, I wanted to prepare my own parts for the chroming company as I know the finished articles will be even better If I took my time to remove all the pitting and rough surface etc also hopefully it should make it a little cheaper too!
Rocker cover fully prepared down to 3000 grade!

This took so mega hours to do properly but hopefully should be worth it!
This is something I found on ebay a while back so as there quite hard to get hold of I thought I'd snap it up as a spare, So Im currently polishing it all up, Once is completely polished I think Im going to paint the vacuum advance gloss black....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1195924494
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...g?t=1195924510
Another part I've recently finished is a front wiper motor... I actually got worried as I'd stripped it completely and it was in so many pieces I thought It would never work again! But after putting it all back together a quick check with the power probe proved it worked and I hadnt wrecked it!
All painted up gloss black.......

Thats all for now...... until the next update!
Excellent work Nick :D
so you keepin the nova now ???
The nova is still up for sale and will remain up for sale but in the mean time I may as well finish the parts I have paid for and or been on with etc, I cant see me spending anymore than this though, This way If it doesnt sell It will be even better for this years shows etc, Nick.Quote:

Hi All, Its update time! I know its been a while since my last update however those of you who know me quite well will know Ive been busy with other ventures......My first house! The astra in this thread was sold but I managed to keep the nova which was a bonus as I never wanted to part with it in the first place! Plus our house has a garage so perfect for the nova! Anyhow I kept looking at the nova inside/out and the engine bay to see were it could be improved etc. I spent a lot of time thinking and this is what Ive come up with.... Hope you like! :)
Interior wise....
The following went to Raj at autoflock.......
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...o/DSC00526.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...o/DSC00529.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...o/DSC00531.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...o/DSC00532.jpg
A,B pillar trims, sunvisors, inserts, speaker covers and I had a spare fuse box cover done as the one that was previously flocked was'nt covered properly on the top edge... Im thinking the flocked pillar trims should go great next to the rear carbon cards that are already in place and Although the dash had already been flocked the speaker covers and dash surrounds on the top were not done so Ive had some of these done to match.... However something a little more special awaits the other dash/ interior parts! Big thanks to Raj by the way as the work is excellent and cost me a mere £35 delivered back to me for all of the above!
These also arrived but I am a little unsure of them at the mo....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...utday021-1.jpg
Engine bay wise.....
Again I kept looking at the bay to see were I could improve it... I decided that the fuel pressure reg/Filter was going to get it! Bmw 668 gloss black style! Not an easy task though probably the most fidly item Ive ever masked! But well worth it....
All stripped/rubbed and masked....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip005.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...vawip007-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...vawip003-2.jpg
I had to place rivets in the reg housing to prevent paint getting into the threads... also using a trusty belt sander I ground down another rivet to fit the reg breather hole in the top. And heres how it turned out....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip022.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip016.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip014.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip015.jpg
Also I cleaned up and used a little autosol to get this part back to its best...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip024.jpg
The bracket that holds the pressure reg had been previously painted matt black however as it bolts to the strut top I decided it would be good to paint it bodycolour being ferrari rosso corsa...
Into the paint stripper it went and a quick rub later it was lined up ready for paint...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip010.jpg
And painted....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip017.jpg
Still continuing with the engine bay I decided that my carbon cambelt cover was looking a little dull so off it came for a freshen up...
All rubbed and ready for action..
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...vawip001-2.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...vawip002-1.jpg
A few coats of sealer followed by a few coats of lacqeur and we have one fine looking cambelt cover........
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip025.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...novawip026.jpg
I had also purchased a carbon heatsheild to go with other carbon items under the bonnet but when it arrived it was also rather dull :( And obviously is was going to get rather hot so I didnt fancy giving it my normal treatment... But one of the guys I work with mentioned using a high temp lacqeur on it, As I wasnt happy with the item I thought I may as well give it a try, Heres the outcome....
From this.....

To this....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...ovawip2012.jpg
A hell of an improvement Im sure you'll agree!
Whilst I was on with the bits and pieces mentioned earlier my local chroming firm were on with numerous bits for me, Im not a huge fan of a huge mass of chrome but little bits here and there I think look well..
Heres some items Ive had done...

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...utday017-1.jpg
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...utday018-1.jpg
Also I had clive at custom solutions make me this up a while back but although its extremely well made Im a little unsure whether I'll use it as yet...
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...utday025-1.jpg
Heres the wiper motor I painted earlier in the year mounted up on the chrome backplate.....
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k2...utday028-1.jpg
New cam cover gasket, cambelt cover seal and grommets....
