Surely for a show/"normal" car its worth keeping the sound deadening fitted?Quote:

also 900kg is more than realistic, (I am assuming your XEing it??) as IIRC an XE only weighs 30kilos more than a 1.2 lump, assuming that a GTE engine is roughly the same, the weight of a gte is about 860, so not much else that can add to the weight bar a cage and a brace or 2.

I replaced all the sound deadening in mine with dynamat style stuff. Covered completely everywhere except behind the dash as its a bit tight behind there.Quote:

Its a 1985 1.2 shell, and i'm fitting a LET and F28, so has a little more weight than an XE nova.
Keith
Ahh, i thought you meant the undercarpet sound deadening(those thick mats)
I wouldn't bother refitting any of that tar type sound deadening stuff nope.
all you need to fit keith is a few strips of dynamat stuff, you don need to cover a hole panel. you just need to lay a couple of thin strips on each panel. its amazing what a difference it makes.
