Id be another up for a png track day, dont mind a travel for a decent day out. As it always is, if the cars together.
A great day at Castle Combe. Wet in the morning, dried out slowly but never properly as it was so cold. A few moments, but came home in one piece and managed a 1:18 timed on the GoPro, with a little room for improvement.
Had to knock, the quality down as I only had an 8GB card, but enjoy.

Good lap Craig looked quick! Sounds the part too :thumb:
Cracking lap. That Astra looks like a bit of an animal.
Very nice Craig proper good buy that was
Thanks, it does go and stop surprisingly well. I can't really take credit for the lap time though, its all the car.
Next outing is Bedford on the 28thFeb.
Yes!!! Absolutely balls out.love that
Next one for me will be Llandow on the 14th of March.
Looking forward to Bedford 28th Feb, Then Castle combe the week after on 7th March.
Made a few interesting changes to the Astra so hoping to knock a couple of seconds off a Combe lap :thumb:
I couldn't say Colin. It has been used for Hillclimb and Sprint in the South West for the last 13 years though. I bought it off Stuart Lillington and his father Phillip who used to share the drive.
Front suspension is Mcpherson strut with simple spring / Insert setup. The Geometry is modified to within 20mm adding castor and adjustment, but it's nothing special so I would imagine the guys did it themselves.
Have a feeling I may know the car you mean though. If so a Chap called Bob now owns it in Bristol as it came up for sale a year or 2 back, Its almost the twin of this one.
Donington, 14th March. :)
Bedford Yesterday on the SEN circuit. Managed a 1:50 when it dried out and had an epic encounter with Ben Speechley in his Red 1600 Nova that some of you will know of. I made a few changes to the car which really paid off, and went with a different tyre which proved to be a superb choice
A short low quality video below, as I'm unable to edit the mammoth HD original after leaving the camera running.

Any pics of bens nova? Someone sent me a pic of a red Nova yesterday that looked epic but wasn't sure where it was.
Looks like the Astra handles well ,how did it compare to Bens nova ?
It does corner OK, I was slightly quicker over a lap. It took me a while to reel him in, then did manage to pass him on the back straight, but had to try very very hard to stay ahead and eventually ran out of talent quite spectacularly. I was out with him in the Nova earlier in the day and his is by far the better handling car. It really is impressive.
Class stuff!
My season starts next sunday and i still havent painted the car.bare shell still!
Wow at the front and rear arb bits. They look mega. that rear set up is a hell of a bit of kit.
Shows me better how the bladed arbs work...
Nice bit of kit, Craig linked me to the WIP so enjoyed reading that, interesting stuff on the shaft CVs etc.
Your Astra doesn't go too bad either Craig :p
To keep on track, I'm booked onto Donington 20th April with Harvey in his mk2 Astra if any one would like to join us.
Yes it was supposed to be on the cards this year. Really must get on and do my ARDS as it looks like a lot of fun. I couldnt do a whole championship, but would look at the CSCC / QMN tintops and MSV trackday trophy. From what i have watched i think that yes it could be competetive.
It goes faster than that when the camera's not on, just sods law.
Me and a friend are doing Castle Combe this weekend (Sat 7th), Its an ERGEN MOTORSPORT BMW day, with places left if anyone fancies it. Should be fun.
Sounds good will be my first outing with the new carbs etc :)
Thanks Ben, that was what they call the SEN circuit and not the quickest, just the best on film. Only me and 2 other people witnessed the fastest lap.
Castle Combe tomorrow which looks like a dry day. Looking to go round in 1:16 on Dunlop Semi's. Camera is charged with a big card in so should get a bit of footage.
damn craig.... your cars rapido! :thumb:
i'd be pappin my knickers driving that
It does go well. Yesterday was superb at Combe. 3/4 of the track has been re-surfaced and it was a nice sunny day. Some real talent out there too which is unusual.
A short video here of one of my quicker laps @ 1:17. Not sure how the quality comes out for everyone else, but the original is crystal clear here so may have to have a play with the settings.

Lol @ those Reebok Classics going at ten to the dozen on the pedals - Top work
Christ are you doing a speed. Bloody nice day and driving.
No sound on the video tho?
As said great driving, looks a good track.
sound works fine for me.
All set for Llandow Saturday with the new 3.0 lump and quick rack. Should be a giggle.
Good luck, want vids!
ok chaps, it would be nice if a few pngers would join me on the 8th of april at snetterton, open pitlane , £139 for the day, there is about 7 of us so far, book up!!
Cheap! Shame its the other side of the universe... (just kidding, but you lot moaned at me about locations enough times. :p )
Would love to, but I'm keeping April free and going up to Blyton Park on 10th May, as the car needs a little attention now.
Ooh Blyton day, interested.
Snetterton isn't tooooo far for me actually but won't be ready for 8th Apr

Its about half full I think mate. There's a load of us going up, camping, Karting on Saturday then Trackday on Sunday.
See if Harvey is up for it too, it would be good to see how the two GTE's compare.
