That's fantastic history you have there, I watched the Top Gear in which it was in recently and wondered if it was still around.
Look forward to an update :thumb:
I've got it on DVD, will see if we (Mark) can edit the whole thing onto you tube
And thanks for all the kind comments, a couple of my mates popped into work tonight to have a look at it and they loved it they nearly wet themselves when they heard the throttle bodies sucking they just couldn't stop laughing, it's just great how Nova's have gone full circle to back being cool again..
Well I found this, I'm sure you'll all enjoy it :d

Reeeeepost! :P
Great thread so far .
I remember watching this in my room on my video player when I was about 8ish! I'm 17 now by the way, good piece of history there!
Of all the car's you have owned Jon, nothing makes you as enthusiastic as a Nova does. It's like being 18 again, except having more money to spend this time :)
Great thread, looking forward to more updates! Superb history, good luck with the resto.
Vbh , still does it for me by the way :D
Bought the DVD as I only had it on good old VHS and think I may have binned it. £4 off Fleabay, BNIP. Looking forward to watching it again :)

Something from Total Vauxhall
http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...CAN0056sml.jpg
Belguim 2001, Walshie and Myself went over in the Sport to run the new engine in, he distracted me on the ferry when I was supposed to be shutting the bonnet, as a result it flippped over against the windscreen when leaving the port!, it lost some of the cheqeurs when it had the new vented bonnet fitted.
In the picture, me, Maff Searle, Walshie, and a local. Also Declan's Nova next to mine, a picture of Niek's engine bay, and Ian Searle's green Nova, anyone else's in there?
Total Vauxhall feature this done as a finale. The stickers had been removed and the 2.0 engine was about to come out ready to be put back to a Sport..

The Engine was sold to Simon unfortunately his body shop condemmned his shell and to cut a long story short in the end he persuaded me to sell him the car, so re stickered with blue chequer's I said good bye to C318 YRW in September 2002...
....Untill November 2012 when I bought it back from Simon. In last 10 years it has covered just over 4000 miles! and has been sorn for the last 3 years.

Sorry, but just had to re-post this:

^^ july 2002 i think, look at the top right hand side of the pic
Excellent bit of history/story to go with the Sport.
As the car had not moved for 3 years and the cambelt was past its sell by date on time rather than milage I didnt dare fire it up, so it was pushed onto the trailer and brought back to the workshop. To re commision it so to speak, I checked the bore's with an endoscope and put some oil down the two give it some lubrication for when we first turned it over (without the plugs) I replaced the cambelt which actually looked quite good, better safe than sorry though.

I gave the oil a long over night drain and replaced with a new filter and fresh oil. I also cleaned the air filters through and removed all the electrical connections to cleaned and lubricated them with contact cleaner. The car actually looked like it had been stage dressed for Halloween as there were cobwebs every where complete with a fair few spiders and snails, one month on and I think they've just about gone now!
http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...t/Snailsml.jpg
It was then a filled with fresh Super unleaded and it burst into life. This snail got properly fed up when the engine fired up and was trying to flee! It was a good job I put some cardboard against the wall behind the car as the exhaust fired out a load of water more snails, spiders and gravel!
It was great to have the car running again but the only gauge that worked was the rev counter , I removed the dash and found the damp had really got into the circuit board and all the auxhiliary gauge connections.

http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...MG_1359sml.jpg
However a good strip down and clean had all but the rev counter working again. Thanks to Mark (Novacabrio) who sent me a down a couple of dash's to play around with, I quickly found the the circiut board was shorting out. So now everything works, the brakes have been checked some light connections sorted. You maybe wondering why I'm going to do this just for a drive as I'm going to strip it all down anyway, the main reason is because my son who was 2 months old when I sold the car to Simon is desperate to have a go in it before it all come's apart, and I would quite like a drive to remind myself of what the old girl was like. Roll on some good / better weather :)
looks cool with the blue on stickers aswell mate
