I saw a decent looking blue Mk1 in the car park at Yeovilton yesterday actually. First one I've seen out for aaaages
To be fair for my job I drive down every road in a town twice, so I spot all of them. Also I've seen more ferrari"s than Nova's parked in Gtown, nova's are clearly more exclusive. lol

With this being a spotted thread....
I just spotted a white GTE near Driffield showground about an hour ago, gave them a flash and a wave, and got a wave back :d
Looked standard apart from a pair of cibie type lamps on the front, anyone know of it (and no i didnt get a pic as i was going the other way) got all giddy and excited when i spotted another nova lol
that was us!! we'd just been to driffield steam ralley but not showing unfortunately!!

the red nova is not far from me, i live about 10 mins in other direction, he a window cleaner he has had it for a few years now, there a couple in hastings, a tatty white 3 door, and couple of 4 door saloon, and my mate in bexhill has a green let, he used to work at the kwick fit just at end of the dual carriage way but he got transfered to eastbourne, i have another mate that still works there with a black mk3 astra gsi though. what do u do for a job? u seem to do lots of travelling. lol
I live in Pevensey so I spotted the window cleaning one when off duty. I work as a weed control operative, driving a little tractor spraying weed killer on foot paths.

Stripped out, decent amount of fabrication then a tuned small block. How is it not motorsport? Bet you wouldn't call nova rally names for smashing his up? No different imo.
Edit, I personally think the one Hayley posted is much more of a waste, at least the above ones are getting used in anger.
IMO it's just banger racing as the purpose is purely to smash the fcuk out of it
It's not and never will be motosport in my eyes and is just a waste
Hillclimb events are totally different as the purpose of the event is to finish the quickest not bash into everything

Rods, stock, grasstrack, oval are all Banger racers surely? Which ain't motorsport
they are hotrods, basically the same as banger racing but your not allowed to purposely make contact, that's why the engine is tuned and bodywork is fabricated to be lighter etc, the blue one looks to be a higher class than the red one though.
The cav is being used for banger racing, rules dictate that you have to have a minimum 10MM thick steel plate covering the door, although i would imagine it isn't the banger racing where people just crash into each other all the time since the builder would have thought to take the bumpers etc off

As said, Rods are not built to take hits like bangers, they are built for speed. Alot of fabrication goes into them so they don't want to smash them up at the first meet.
I do autograss, in no way is it banger racing! often rotten cars are given a new lease of life...! The amount of effort people put into there cars you can't call it banger racing, i didn't realise people spent up to twenty grand on bangers? and that banger racing was actually a non contact sport like autograss... yes sometimes people crash or break there cars but the same happens in f1 and pretty much any other motorsport.Quote:

Ahh I see. I've got a grounds maintenance company so do a bit of spraying but mostly cutting grass at the mo, however should of slowed up by now!
