well just had more bad news! Went to the bodyshop today (the Ex's Brothers) and i cant take it down till Saturday! (he said the same to me last week too) so i dont think it'll be ready for PVS :'-( unless i take a week off from a new job that i start on monday, that wont be a good start will it! So ill be going down in my astra estate, on a brighter side, ive found a 16xe engine 5 mins away with everythin to put in my nova. just need a bit more cash! (bloody bank holidays make me spend all my money on beer!) wish me luck and it all might be done in 6 week ish.
what size of tyres you running on the astra sxi wheels? and how low was the car at the back mate?
195 45 16s, its got standard springs at the mo but will have 60mm lowering springs in. In the first pic it had cut spring in it mate.
any progress on this??
yes mate sorry, its had 2 new rear arches fitted and its in the bodyshop, hopefull painted next weekend or week after. And ive also bought a full 2.0 16v conversion for it! ill get all the pics together and up loaded this week.
A couple of pics of the arches fitted

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...6/DSCN0724.jpg
as you can see the pillock that fitted them decided to weld them right in the middle of the arch detail bit, which has been an absolute ball ache to fill and sand and get ready for paint!!!!!
more pics to follow when i get them sorted!
Shouldn't you have cut the arches down so you could use as little of the repair panel as possible to make a neater job ?
Your going to have problems with the shell soon, you shouldnt have welded all the way round the panel
why? i dint want him to weld that high but the pillock did
lol please explain this one , of course you can weld them all the way round you just have to do it in stages so you dont get distortion, and they do look like they could have been trimmed before fittng thenQuote:

I had been told you leave gaps in the welds and just filler it, as if you weld all the way round it can wrap/distort the rear quarter
That's basically what Bainyboy said about the distortion but you don't need to leave gaps
Be better to seam it than stitch it
Can also be spot/plugged on to :)
i did ask the welder to but he thought he knew better the slack cu*t! its been a right ball ach to get them right now.Quote:

it needs
dash swap
icv
interior sorting
dash wiring sorting
engine bay sorting ( strip, clean and paint)
slam panel replacing
and a few other bits
already ordered are an alarm, heatshield, chrome rocker cover bolt set and yellow paint. priced up a slam panel today, £40, which is £13 cheaper than beevers.... :)
the aim is to tidy it up fully, and dependant on funds, run it or sell it.
and the reason for not doing bugger all for the last 6 months:
http://i405.photobucket.com/albums/p...v/_MG_8086.jpg
that was 3 weeks ago, now i can get on with car stuff :d
right, spose i better add to this. the alarm is now fitted, remote start woooo! dahs has been swapped, it now has an sri one, ive also fitted some new sri clocks from col smith as the ones in her were moosed, and i cut all of the spi wiring out. the loom is now 2kg lighter and neater.... also fitted my stainless heat shield and bolts, but i have to paint stuff.... got a upper slam panel sorted for £40 all in, cheaper than beevers..... pics tomorrow
Cool! i cant wait to see the progress! ive got the plastic trim in my garage for the passenger side, sill to carpet bit, ill bring it with me tmoz.
aye cool, shes at my "unit" lol, dont trust it down my street. i'll text you the addy and post code tomorrow and you can come down. its only 10 mins up the road.
sweet, ill see thee tmoz!
right alarm is done, cdl is in, all working right, but....
the ****er now wont run. ive contacted the alarm makers and they asked me to run a test function on it and its fine, so ive basically removed a wire from something and its not happy. to add to it its an early astra mk2 20xe.... so the wiring is totally different. tomorrows job, go through the engine loom and sort it out. on anothwer note, remote cdl is ferking pimp.... :D
rob
yay! it runs again. me being a pillock i'd connected the fuel pump to earth.........
all done now, and interior back in. just needs a vac out. needs the os headlight sorting, due to it being on strike....
scared the shiote outta my dad with the remote start by firing it up stood in his living room!!
slam panel next, possibly....
if you leave it in gear can you see it drive past the window
lol im not that thick.....
lol its coming along nicely
