Fresh ideas, I like!
There was a z28net (2.8 v6 turbo from vectra vxr for those unsure) on eBay the other week, didn't fetch it's reserve! Maybe one for the future? Or is a turbine taking the p!ss when your already using a big v6 what with all the extras that come with terbo?
Still, £400 thorney remap and you've got 300bhp & 400lbs torque!
Glad to see another nutter gone down the v6 route, whats the bhp of the 3.2? One of the vectra b 2.5s was 195bhp (ish) wasn't it?
How come you've gone with the f18 over the f20? they have a bit of a reputation of blowing up the diffs lol lol
:cuckoo: :thumb: a like to see little pocket rockets
good on you mate, ive built a few now and they are great fun. the sound is insane! not done a 3.2 though so i bet that'l make some sound!
i have my 2.5 mk1 for sale in the forsale section if anyone fancies one ;)
IIRC the 3.2 V6's are something like 215 - 220BHP. Would be interesting to see if the F18/20 can take the power.
we have already thought about turboing the 3.2 if the direct port nitrous kit doesn't get us into the 11's but i'm sure it will!Quote:

Yea be good to see the f18/f20 take that amount of power there an old box now though too would he not have been better fitting something a bit newer if could have got away with it. I mean going through all that trouble fitting the newer engine into a nova just to take it back out because the box had spat its dummy out seems a bit daft but each and everyone to there own lol.Quote:

I think too many people make a issue of boxes to be honest, i have only ever had 2 boxes go on me in 15 year and they were both on turbo engines, if it goes it goes i'll fit another.Quote:

the gearbox debate gets like the bigblock smallblock debate lol

Good project, shell looks solid.
LOL @ at the size of that engine sitting on the floor, facking huge lol
Be interesting see how it turns out :)
i was very happy at how clean it was once we stripped it down! well clean.
david
great project
great project in the midst!
in working nearly 7years in a salvage yard, i only remeber us seling 2 or 3 F20's 1 cavalier F18 so they arent that bad a G/Box. HOWEVER the F18 from the Vectra with the hydraulic clutch/slave cylinder set up was an epic fail and clearly made of Chocolate
F20's are obviously a more sought after box though and tend to end up in high power modified vauxhalls, not long ago there was a feature in TV of someone with a let astra who had destroyed something like 12 in 2 years.Quote:

cheers mate, i'm looking forward to getting it done myself!
David.
how do matey looks a nice project do you still go to york much ant been much over the past couple of years but hoping to get there a bit this year
now mate, how's things?
yeah we still go, hoping to have this finished for the 1st one of this year!
get yourself down one day.
David.
will be doing found a vid on you tube of phil runing the last time we ran there and it will be 3 years since in may dint realise how long it had been but had the loon off the road 18month when i let it just couldnt be arsed with it
hopefully be at the one at the end of may with phil to give the loon a good kickin
Liking the look of this so far, that bay looks mint! There are still good shells out there somewhere to be found!
Glad someone else has thrown caution to the wind and is going the V6 route, plenty do's and donts from folks and non believers but its down to personal preference really :thumb:
bloody hell thats a while back now, i didn't go for 2 year until last year when we built a 2.5 v6 and ran that thats why we moved on to a 3.2 with some extra's.Quote:

yeah there's still some to be found here and there, we going to have a proper go with this one, i really want 11's out of it.Quote:

right we have had a change of mind, we were going to use nitrous with the engine but we decided on something else..................... :pmsl:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...32seturbo2.jpg
we got hold of a vectra vxr engine (z28net) so decided to use the turbo and remote pipes for the 3.2, so this is where the turbo will be sitting but the intercooler will be lower down.
we going to run it at 5psi with around 10.3:1 compression but i think we'll get away with around 8 without retarding the timing, we'll see how it goes :thumb:
david.
Awsome!
Good work David, will be watching this one :)
ooooh, very coool :)
This has all the right bits for an epic Nova. One question though. If you had a VXR engine why not just use that?Quote:

Great build though whatever you do. :thumb:
Thats going to be a hell of an exhaust manifold lol
I guess the blower will only run off the front bank?
well the reason we using this is because the 3.2's run at around 240ish with a filter, 4 bar fpr and a decent exhaust so add the turbo and slightly flowed heads it should see around 320bhp on 5 psiQuote:

How confident are you that you'll be able run 8psi? CR sounds quite high
10:1 is par for the course with turbo engines these days though....
just put the boost in later to get good results :)
impressive work david.
love the fact you have looked beyond the normal engine choices
never thought i would say 'have you seen the 3.2 v6 turbo'd nova' lol
Cant wait to see this finished and heading up the strip :thumb:
