Right big thanks to Colin (aka NovaRally) for delivering my parts to me this morning.
Just thought since i got them new door and mk1 wings i would chuck them on.
unfortunatly a bit of rain stopped me fitting the door and also i had to go out in 30mins and needed a bath

Was going to get the plough on but its missing a drivers side bumper slider and i had to fix the backer to the bumper so that should be ready tomorrow for some more mincing
im having problems fitting the mk1 headlights into the mk2 i own there seems to be a big gap above the headlight and the bonnet.
Is there any clips i need to go under the headlight like on a mk1???
Regards Jimbo
nice to see some else converting back to mk 1 . how much you pay for that door off colin/novarally? in good nic?
Theres a little clip under the headlight on each side for the mk1 headlights. Although i noticed that my brothers 5dr has a large gap between the bonnet and grill/lights.
door was £50 and yes its in very good condition! Had a pattern doorskin at some point in its life.
right has anyone got any of the clips spare??
I've got 3 of these spare mate
http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...dave/018-2.jpg
I bought new ones when I had my front panel replaced. On the mk2s there's one behind each head light that just clip into the bottom of the light. Not sure if the mk1's are the same. Part no for the clips is 90321482 and they are still available from vauxhall.
Also. I've got a 4 door mk2 saloon down the garage ATM. It's absolutley rotten underneath but if there's anything small I could take off it for you before it goes to the scrappy let me know. It's going tomorrow morning though...
them clips are off of a mk2 im not 100% sure what mk1's look like tbh.
hmm thinking i dont know what i need off of a mk2 as spares.
less of a update more of a mince.
the plough trial fitted

Right i know the gaps are real bad but i used a mk2 bumperbacker which im guessing the brackets that go into the chassis legs are shorter on a mk1??
im after a drivers side bumper slider, Mk1 headlight clips, mk1 bumper brackets (if there shorter?)
Regards Jimbo
Snowplough  looks great :thumb:
cheers so am i right about the bumper brackets that go into the leg or do you not know?
yeah i think there different mate, as i had to change mine when i done a facelift
well if your still down in devon and have some mk1 brackets ill have them.Quote:

Looking good dude. Is there any reason for removving the blukhead? didnt think it would be very nice on a road car.
well hopefully i'll be gettin throttle bodys, doing the corsa brake servo and the swirl pot for my fuel will prob go there.
this isnt going to be an every day car as i will be getting a van for that.
will be road legal so i can give it a blast on the weekends thou.

/\ cheers scott
I was quite amazed when i took all the interior out to find most of it has been painted. just means i got to use more nitromorse when i get it ready for seam welding.
one quick question will it damage the panals if i roll it onto its side if im careful as i want to strip the sealer off the underside and im not confident on making a roll over jig.
Do as others do, get hold of a engine crane, take your doors off put a strap through the car door openings and then attach it to the crane, use the crane to stop the car tipping fully over and roll it onto some old tyres that can touch on the top of the door frame and on the front inner wing (take your wing off) and leave a crap rear wheel on, with no weight it should not damage the beam, plus you have the crane to take most the weight.
Or make a roll over L shape frame.
Scott
might make one of the L frames so when it gets painted i can put it on its side in the spray booth.
Thinking as its nice weather and you've commented on my thread im going to go outside and get the petrol tank and rear axle off and some pic lol
well nice project dude ill be keeping my eye on it especially as it be a sr rep lol
Good project mate, glad to see your going mk1 with it :thumb: Can't remember if you already said but what engines going in?
depends on money steve, might get it ready for an xe/Let and just put the 1L that came out so i can insure and drive it and then as time goes on work my way up to a Let.
Might buy a let when i can and tune it up then drop it in when its done
looking good so far m8 ;) will be good to see when its done :)
cheers woody and the key word you said is When lol
Just uploading some pictures into photo bucket
right seing as scott had a read through and posted on my project i thought as its a nice day i would go out for a mince.
my missus ripped the headlining down and cleaned off the rest of the crap left behind from the sound deddening.
