Well, maybe a 950cfm could make it a bit better.
Though this will do for your 1600:

It could do with a polish, but I haven't run it since October 2003.
/\/\ what spec is that running then? It looks a right hodgepodge of various things. I'll name it "alien vs predator 1.6 conversion" lol

Special ground Kent AST9 cam, Kent solid lifters with special lash pads, and GM followers. Kent double springs on Titanium shims with stainless caps.
Head flowed by the best in the business. He has retired and doesn't it any more. He used to do heads for Mountune, MASS, and a number of other race/championship winning engine builders, including the "Sodemo" engines in the BTCC Williams Renault Lagunas (about 1/2way through the season, with poor results, Williams had someone else sort their engines, though Sodemo still tended them). Bills best head was 8hp away from this one.
DTA E48EXP ECU, Lucas coil pack. Mondeo crank pickup, Formula Vauxhall Junior crank wheel, Bosch Lambda sensor for closed loop management.
BTB 4:1 manifold with system.
Pumped by a Bosch inline EFI pump, which takes it's feed from an external swirl pot, fed by a Facet red top from a half size (cut down) standard GTE tank.
Dyno'd and mapped by Steve Grenauld with 190hp, and bags and bags of torque.
(The dizzy is there to bung up the hole, it doesn't do anything these days)
All of that feeds through a quaife 5sp sc/cr box with hand fettled syncros, a choice of diffs (usually 3.94, but sometimes 3.74, or 4.18 - I have a 4.53 somewhere!). Diff is a hand tweaked ZF and was set to 60% lock-up.
Standard 1300 shafts, modified hubs to eliminate bump steer and reduce ackerman to zero. Brakes are Cavalier GSi fronts and standard drums with Ferodo DS11 shoes (extra-hard!) at the rear.
All of this talk, I think I should get it going again over winter.
