Worked very well, i want something cheap, at the moment my shell owes me £270.Quote:

A nice £2k build is what you need Paul. Your yellow one is lovely yeah, but obviously came at a price & time :(
True to a point but I'd like to see if your car ( not engine ) could stand the abuse lets say Olly Hewitts did in a year. That car was massively reliable.Quote:

Ollys old engine went into my old build and was still going strong when i sold it.Quote:

i see your point i am expecting issues with the gearbox if it stays as is (hard track use will kill the synchros in no time im sure) but the plan over winter is to get the elite gearbox designed built and fitted for next spring :)Quote:

tbh i have not considered either
Worth a thought?
to buy a box, have an adapter plate mate, new clutch plates, mounts, shafts linkages etc it wouldnt work out much cheaper if at all than the elite sccr dog kitQuote:

Oh and I run the grinder through one of my R888's
Tidy, shame about the tyre chop tho lol
Good work on the floor, love the jig. Turreting the rear?
Good work.
I've always wondered if its a good idea to put box sections between the chassis legs across where the wheel well used to be for extra strength.
It dont need it mateQuote:

So i treated myself to a new welder, oerlikon 170 for those in the know. I 'acquired' a BOC bottle and had it changed on my mates account. Been to see Mr Hockly in Wales for a cage. Fitted some seat rails.
Had a good spend up @ Raldes, new bushes etc.
Popped up to GAZ and got myself some goodies, been busy with a wire wheel on the grinder and various tins of hammerite.
Been to a breakers to strip some much needed bits of a Nova.
Martin (bmw156) has dropped some bits off to me, ive got to pay him a visit and collect some more junk/goodies off of him. (when i wake up, sorry again mate :()
Mr Brown has dropped me a rebuilt XE.
Milton Motorsport is getting my gearbox for an ATB soon.
Its coming together...
N/a now Paul????
Indeed
lol, glad your plans are rolling out Mr Paul
i got my gaz shocks through today as well. no cash deals though!
and drop me a text when you wanna come get those bits. im easy -
speak soon sleepy head!
Well, after 7 years and a half years, Ill miss you CBM :(

The new banger, as it sits at the moment:

New heater, makes the cold nights a bit more bearable!

I knew that Cavalier had some sort of use!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...a/5787fc0a.jpg
Looking good mate - i have the same heater and it works well
Drink the gas though, dont they! I used the remnants of the little bottle in about 10 mins. Now on a 33KG one i think
Is the new shell/car going to be white then ?
yeh, just plain bog standard white, nothing fancy.
So when I get some armco scrapes and tyre wall dents in it, i can just get my hammerite and brush out and off I go again!
Good plan lol
Whats the future for CBM?
CBM is sold.
Shame to see it go mate, it's the only nova Ive known you to have, it started as an SR? cant member what color, then went xe then color blue and then let added, then to it's liquid yellow hi spec let etc iirc.
BUT the new one should be much more abusable for track days, less worrying about it etc.
Scott
Building a list of parts up well.
Right, so after my visit to Hockly's last Thursday, I cracked on with fitting the cage tonight:

The rear stays are just placed in, not welded yet, hence them not being straight.
Big thanks to Scott & Shane for their help tonight,
Paul
Great thread...
Nice edit tom lol
Cage looks good etc.
Looks a nice cage Paul, are you triangulating the front like you were thinking of a while back?
Also what is a 'rear stay', the bit between the B pillars and rear legs?
Lion, yeh it goes through to the front, and yeh thats what HH calls them bars.
