Today was 'Get some Flange for the Fannymould' day. Me and Dar are having the same exhaust systems made up at the same time to save a bit of cash, and we've had the manifolds for a week or so, but they come with no flanges, so today we had to bog off to Longlife to get some welded on.
Was an enjoyable trip apart from having to be seen in the GTi6 again. Dar rekons the Pug was designed to embarrass me in the sense that its fast etc.. I think its in the sense that i need to wear dark glasses so no one sees me! Not to worry though, as a forign lorry driver kicked his **** on the back roads. LOL. (basically the lorry turned off, then we caned it to the next junction, turned off and there he was again, he must've been tankin!!!!!)
Anyhoo, heres the fresh Ashley manifold, with its nice new flange...

Looked on auto route to see how that lorry appeared in front of us again (I never cane the car with you in it, I don't want to frighten you :p ) and there is a little short cut. My navigator was rubbish!!
I know you secretly love the 6. You can't fool me!
Top job by Longlife and a billy bargin price as well :thumb:
Manifold looks cool, Nice.
Dar kindly ordered up my Rad for me, so I got on and fitted that yesterday as I had a spare hour.

Heres a gratuitous hub shot as well, still waiting to go back on when the tie bar bushes turn up.

Today I are mostly been chopping holes in the floorpan :-) Got my cav shifter back from Lee's, had 3 inches taken off it and all the bends straightened. I was quite surprised how quickly i set it up too, basically just slipped the collar, tightened it, and found it was pretty much in exactly the right place! Things like that dont happen often lol In fact, i spent more time bashing the crap out of the quaife gearknob I had from Stu, to get the thread out of it. Fits like a glove with a bit of insulation tape :-)

I also plumbed in the oil cooler, but no pics of that as I wont know where to secure it till i get some fans.
Other mincing around included fitting the last of the harness points and fitting my harnesses, and also making a blanking plate for the matrix hole, this time I had to cut a corner out allow the engine harness through (christ knows where QED thinks it should be, but it aint anywhere convenient, ill tell you that, ive had to suspend the ECU just the other side of the hole!)
Bit of bathroom sealant (something i use a lot of in my work, covers up gaps in conduit a treat lol)

Plate and a bit more sealant
