*Small update.. as its been a while..
Ive still had too much on elsewhere lately to make good progress with the car, as with pretty much since start of the year but slowly slowly things are getting there…
Picking up from last time, Toovey got the engine running sweetly enough and everything else, tho lacking setting-up and quite a ‘different’ feeling car to drive, all was working well. For a short period.

After a day or so and since, I have issues with the r.j’d short-shift linkage. It needs some bolts replacing for longer ones and one or two non-locking nuts have been used so I need to replace those- as it quite quickly loosens up. In addition its tricky to set-up correctly so will look into next. A friend suspected the fork on the F15 not being straight, I shall investigate anyway..
So MOT and PV prep.
That is all that currently stopping me, from what I can see, getting an MOT which is up in next few days.
Ive had the tie-bar miss-hap sorted by getting it drilled out and re-tap’d. I also took a few mins to straighten the valance/slam panel as after hoisting the car up during engine conversion it’d kinked the bonnet gap slightly bigger.. anyway, practically O.E gap again now.. Then i just need to get to the bottom of a small coolant and oil leak (later seems to be from sump plug).

Once MOT’d ill be running the car as it is to PV, with that being so soon.
After PV im hoping to get the Piper exhaust manifold modified and to complete the look- the cage I bought from mazz - just to have something in the back really; needs some work on it before it goes in.
More soon.
Looking good, can i post a old pic to help with your interest?
go ahead mate
lol ok.. pv 2008 pics..
i see what your getting at and have no fear - the slabs and stance will be back; ive not gone into the issues with the piper manifold- thats why the steelies and higher ride height for now.. hey the ride is much better at the mo anyway lol
Billing, wasn't saying anything about what you've just. Just nice pics always help me crack on that's all.
Eh up Dave
Glad it seems to be running okay.
Was going to give you a call last Saturday as i was in Stafford in my Nova as went for a drive to mates house, but ran out of time as had to get back for a bbq and beer drinking! Maybe next time.
Are the steelies stopping on or they just spare wheels?
Cheers
benn - your quite right i missed pv that year lol.. yeah thanks for the pep hope to mirror that at this years billing then..
mart - it would have been a chance to give ur synch. tool back ive been hording lol, tbh i got back from holiday saturday @ 4pm so i wasnt here most of the day..
Wheels are stopping on until piper manifold is sorted, hopefully after pv, for billing..
Not in any rush.Quote:

You doing the 'Retro Mania / Dub Mania' at Weston Park in few weeks?
i cant.. im working that weekend, not able to book it either.. gutted :-(
*Update.
So MOT prep. Not a great start - ive pre-occupied my little free time as it is with buying an ebay shed as new daily hack..

I needed it. The non-vaux i was using before was just making me go mad, it was deeply crap, so this is slightly less crap. 67K, 2 owners, small block 1.8 won for £285. Needs idle sorting, windscreen and tyres for MOT. Im getting alloys (vaux. ones) @ weekend.. then sort the rest after.
Anyway, the nova.. mot.. for pv..
Ive mainly been doing those odd jobs i couldnt get round to doing before.. mainly tidying/sorting.. legalities i guess..

Ive relocated the 'catch-tank' and 'attached' it so it doesnt move about - much better there, bit more hidden - shows the 'box off a bit again.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../Photo0189.jpg
I then sorted the wiring loom/bulkhead area that tbh has been a bit 'overflowing bin' look to it. Much better now.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../Photo0198.jpg
Finished, in fact. Mounted the two amplifiers all properly.
So i guess its this area generally that saw the attention, changes..

I have finally sorted the lark with the rad fan output from the mbe.
I still ran the '89 carb - spec. non-relay'd fan wiring setup. So there is no existing relay to go to. So im going to make one. I work @ electronics place no so no excuse, lol. I have diagrams and may do one of those 'how to guides' as many nova owners up grading to stand-alone will need to do this.
Once thats in and sorted i can go MOT. Fingers crossed with the emmisions lol.
..forgot to add my 90mm ram pipes/trumpets finally arrived.. bring on..

Air filter has been on order, was expecting it today but told tommorow/monday latest. Its a proper decent single/sausage type, pipercross 600 thing..
Tho these will go on the car after MOT.
looking forward to seeing this again
Looking sweet Dave, glad to see it's come on good, and do a guide on using the fan via mbe, as i would love to use my mbe to operate mine.
Scott
Filter came, but not the backplate.. lol.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../Photo0205.jpg
And wired up the relay, just hoping to test it somehow..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1.../Photo0206.jpg
Can you 'send' the fan a signal, with laptop hooked up, to test..? MBE.
Booked for MOT tuesday morning.
Just gotta jack up the ride height a bit and its ready. Hoping for an adam lol.
*Update..
Nearly an adam, but not quite. Failed (badly) just on emmisions. Theyre sky high. So hoping, last chance saloon for PV (as well as need the gear linkage sorting yet) to turn the fuelling down even more mechanically and electronically ourselves in the next couple of days for a friday re-test.
Only then it might make it sunday.
Love the pic Benn posted!
That's how i remember it... propper sexy!
lol
So you mite take it pvs on sunday?
cheers, as said it will look like that again one day..
it doesnt look likely at the minute mate; you have to be an 'expert' to get these standalone things to work lol..
im kiddin,.. just tiring.
Please work day and night to fix it up i want to see this.! lol
I too hope you can get it sorted for PV mate, just be nice to see you driving one again! lol
And im sure John would love to see it too.
Scott
ill do my up-most fellas..
ive not brought the MOT fail sheet home with me, but is it 3.5 something's the limit on emmisions, mot..?
whatever it is mines pushed out 11.5 :-o
Bowyer says just keep knocking the fuel pressure down; so thats what we'll try..
I was with Lee H the other day and he told me you can lower it a touch by taking the car for a decent run.
Quick google, not sure if it right to every car thought, Say's 7.3
This is true, tricky for me to do now as mot has expired..
Annoying thing is ive still gotta faff even after its mot'd to find 5th gear and make sure linkage is secure over a distance..
Get it on some private land with permission.
You can drive it to th test station flat out on a dual carriageway etc..
if it was that simple... as said, no fifth gear at the mo and things are at bit iffy at times..
ill try the wind-it-down method
What a pisser dude :(
Just found my emission's test papers out:
Nova 20XE
CO % : 3.5
HC : 1200
Mine was 2.648 and 279
Cav V6 (with a CAT)
CO % : 0.200
HC : 200
Cav was 0.184 and 56
Shows what a difference there is with the limits!
Can you not fiend a friendly MOT station & 'accidently' drop £20 on the floor the moment there about to to emisions?
That what a 'friend' of mine had to do!!! :)
i wish mart.. ive no idea where this place would be.
Didnt think anyone doing this did it legitimately..

'friend'
eeeek, that CO% is shocking!
Can you not save the map you have in the ecu to disc, then get 'Toovey' to stick an MOT map in, get car MOTed then switch maps back.
That what i was thinking of doing if i was going to struggle to get a MOT.
Martin
What are you trying to imply there Christopher?Quote:

toovey has had enough.. tbh ive not spent a penny with him so, he's been enough help. He suggested to me when it still had mot on to get it mapped properly, which would have done what your suggesting martin,.. a map for each occasion.
But i didnt, instead i drove it a little around the local area and altho i enquired at track n road ( i do intend to get round to it) i need to sort a boss for lambda probe first so its all just a bit meh..
The way to do it is get a serial pc in the unit; get it hooked up and get martin on the phone and give it a try..
You got a boss for the lambda?
Got mine off e-bay. Loads on there, drill hole drop it in, weld around & jobs a good un.
If your not running lambda sensor wont that send your emmisions all over the place?
