good project good luck for MOT
Thanks.
Just had a call to say the headlights are useless & the guys can't sort the aim (too high) so he has suggested some non-pattern lamps. These are both Valeo units however?????
Anyone in the south west got some mk2 headlights I can borrow temporarily? :thumb:
What a bummer! If i lived closer dude, you could of borrowed mine out of my car!!:( ;)Quote:

Seems odd.
What about moving the leccy adjuster? Im guessing hes tried that tho?
You'd like to think so wouldnt you?Quote:

I had this problem with my headlamps mate, aiming too high iirc.
one of the lads at the vaux garage sorted it. he pulled something out and rubbed it down a little to give more adjustment.
Are they popped into the clips properly at the bottom?
well ive got a set of lights here you can borrow. but still probley abit to far for you?
They were when I took it in.....Quote:

Still need to pop in & see it for myself.
I bet the manual adjusters have seized/broken...
The electronic adjustment isn't tested/used in a mot iirc, its just the manual adjustment.
So if the ball joint things break, you cant adjust the beam with the adjuster.....
Both lights are new units Adam.
Hmm,ok, thats weird.
Maybe the suggestion on mig about rear ride height is the problem then...
make sure the electronic height adjustment switch is set to its lowest position too
Just been to see it.
It seems the headlamps need to be almost hanging out the front of the fr panel to have a legal aim pattern.
I'm gonna try another pair of headlamps from a donor car to see if they fare any better & if need be punt my new ones on.
It seems odd but I never really had issues before with other lamps..
Local scrapyard wants £15 a piece for the 2nd hand lamps they've got. Coonts!
Headlamps aside it is actually a pass!
yay thats good news fella, ive got 2 brand new valeo lights here hope there not the same lol
Good news CG, If you get stuck you can borrow my old (mk2) headlights to get it through test. If your passing of course...
Could you not just raise the ride height for MOT?
No, read again, the rear is up as high as the shocks will go.Quote:

I'm going to see if the chap at the garage is up for slicing off the turret tops & re-welding them on lower down. It needs doing anyway to avoid the rear dampers topping out.
Hassle.
Mine was the same due to the car being too low on the back, an extra £10 to the MOT guy soon sorted it for some reason. They have got stricter now and I know my car is going to fail on this.
Shame I can't just throw in some longer rear springs under the beam!
It happened to my mate on his XE Nova. Hence I'm certain it is the ride height. -10mm off the rear ride height points the lamps up by +100mm...
/\ Whatever! /\
Its passed folks!
Good to hear it passed mate :)
ive been waiting to see this buzzing round bridgy, is it on the road now?
 :thumb:
About time to fella well done.
Hey Worm! Nah mate, not out terrorising anyone yet. I'm bringing it home tonight & will be trying to get her all taxed & insured by the weekend maybe.Quote:

Likewise. I know where to find you..... Bit of a PNG team in bridgy now?
Tonight has revealed I need a new clutch & the gear linkage appears to have slipped & can't select 1st & 2nd gate.
So nice to have the ticket though.
big up the bridgy boys.....  seen a nice red mk2 think it was yesterday with oz alloys yesterday, you happy with the car then cg?
White OZ type TH kinda rally wheels, yeah seen that a few times. Looks OK.Quote:

List to do;
Finish interior bits & bobs (stereo etc)
New clutch ($$) & re-set gear linkage.
Remove rear camber shims.
Tidy up engine bay (clean off spilt polish)
Lower fr ride height some more.
Tracking.
Work out if the HG has gone??
Probably think of more.
Only just read that it passed, Nice. To do list isnt much. How come you think the HG has gone? Did i miss somthing?
Bad news about the clutch, gearbox off job too if you have a f15.
And HG gone? :(
I think its time you got a big xe ;) lol
Though I havent been far in it, the coolant has gone horrible & manky & I'm convinced its losing some.Quote:

All good fun though, got the bug back now its passed. :)
Could it not be some nasty old coolant mixing with the new stuff?
Deffo no air locks? I panicked when the Chavalier level dropped lots after we'd flushed it through. Must have been an air lock as it's been fine ever since.
Possibility I guess. Might just be me being cautious.
Needs miles on it to find out & run it back in a bit, it was stood for pretty much 2 years.
