Exactly that... how all the adjustment is designed on simps, doesn't even have to be a lot of work if you do it right.Quote:

ste, paypal for moneez for a ride please cheif!
have you ever done four wheel alignment on a car? takes at least an hour and then the adjust-ability can still slip.Quote:

pluss fixed mounts are ideal if you can guarentee both sides are exactly symetrical to within half a mm and i cant so to identical plates could give different geometry from side to side even though the plates are exact. hense again the beuty of these you dont set them up so there in the same positions you adjust them untill your geometry is perfect compensates for any design intollerences so to speak
again like i say please dont forget although they look new ect the legs are designed to be in the same places and are only as exact as what the rotten legs were! like i say i know its not the best way to correct it but they are the easiest way on this project to ensure its geometry is bang on and can compensate each wheel individualy for and screw up on the fabbing side of things
the type im looking at do exactly the same as what your talking about but can be adjusted ect as and when and can be adapted to lock using small roll pins once the geometry is set
i agree and if it was a precision designed chassis fabricated on the floor to amazing tollerances then i would defenatly prefer the idea of set plates but please dont be fooled my shell isnt at the end of it its still structured around a 20 year old spanish built nova!
lmao i would rep you southie but it says i need to spread some around before giving it to you again lolQuote:

seen plenty of touring cars with those type.
and mk999 they will never shift an inch as the pressure is all pushing upwards and not sliding left to right if that makes sense.
keep up the great work ste.
Until your doing some serious cornering speeds...Quote:

there will be alot of force acting on these mounts in all directions that is for sure but the point is are these forces going to be enough?
im going to try them any way as they apear to be the standard that all the d1 drift boys ect head towards and they dont report any major problems.
at worst say they do slip it means i got to move it back to where it was roughly and have it aligned again its not going to be the end of the world as im not going to use it every day as a shoping car
i like the input and i have taken on board your concerns guys but seriously i feel that this is going to be the easiest and best way to tackle the problem of alignment isues
and lets face it if over the whole project thats going to be my only concern im laughing dont you think
any dates yet ste?
finished the mounts the other week but just remembered i never posted the pics lol so this will bring you up to date
block in place as you can see if you look at the pic you can see the block is perfectly inline and level with the chassis legs

for those of you that dont know this is what happens when your head goes porus
so for all those that get a bee in your bonnet and run for the hills when you see orange water in your header tank and think your heads porus think again.
This is what you get when your heads porus

somebody put mayo in that engine instead of coolant lol
Nova is looking good :) really cant wait for more progress :thumb:
that is probably the muckiest engine i've ever seen
Thats some nice goopy stuff there Ste, stop mincing about with the engine and get those horrid fecking wheels off, btw just to settle a discussion with Rob, what size are ya voodoo's?
that hole. ismnt it for reverse switch? and wow thats real full of mayo. how long was it run like that?

Nice! lol thank god Ive never had a head go that way, funny thing is i remember looking at mk2 fiestas when i was learning to drive, must have seen 20 or more with owners who had no idea why the oil was a bit more think and creamy/or the water being very oily lol..
As for the 4x4, is that engine mounted higher then standard? looks high in the last engine shot pic's.

they could have all been normal mounts but its far easier to fab different mounts than it is to route awkward boost pipes and exhaust ect
thats mainly because the rocker cover gasket split a few days before it came of the roadQuote:

on an f28 mate the reverse switch is on top the box near the selector and the ident switch is underneath the hole has defenatly been smashed into it at some point but its odd as it looks like it was made from the inside out but by what i have no ideaQuote:

as for the mayo it was flushed only 5 days ago with a proper agent for cleaning the system after gasket failure then refilled with fresh coolent as i tryed the porus mod. 5 days later and sbout 50 miles and i got the coolant level light come on checked the header tank and it was solid with the stuff again so i think all i managed with the head and porus mod was to make it worse

what size would you like them to be whats it worth if i say 17s or 16s lol ?
i think this should be at least 23% now what you think guys ?
got abit more done also when i brought the cav the guy i got it of lived about 5 miles from AP racings develpment center and claimed that they had used the cav as a development car for a clutch kit for the f28/c20let and it had had about 4 clutches fitted and tryed on it free of charge
I just thought yeah yeah as you do but it apears he may well of been telling the truth.
The hole in the gearbox after we cleaned it all up was obvious that it wasnt a smashed hole but a cleanly drilled hole in just the right place to inspect the clutch
when we split the box from block low and behold theres an ap clutch and writen on the cover plate in marker pen was Revision 4 batch 1 prototest and on the other side a load of random letters and numbers part number?
same on the friction plate.
so it apears that it may have been ap that made the hole as f28 boxes dont have an inspection cover and the old bloke i got it of was telling the truth. Bonus
Any way some pics of todays progress

Looking good, I'd be inclined to bin those rubber mounts and fit something better which will mean altering the mounts as they use a single UNF threaded bolt.
Should be a cracking car if you finish it off with the right parts :)
Loving the Chassis
Bonus on the clutch Ste, but who wants shooting for the sump gasket
