Nice to hear it's up and running dude, like the fact that you're doing the painting yourself.

Nice to hear it's up and running dude, like the fact that you're doing the painting yourself.
Might as well have a go mate - Got the basic knowledge and the equipment there to do so :)
If i had the equipment then I'd have probably done the paint but my garage is too cramped at the best of times.
It's all in the prep mate get that right and even rattle cans give a good result ;)
Looking forward to the pics once sprayed.
Great work mate,looking forward to seeing the paint.Moreso to seeing the car next year sometime.As you have similar plans etc to me i love to see your progress.Gives me inspiration/motivation you see!
I'll be spending a good bit of time on the prep making sure all bits are properly keyed - Priming the repaired areas (Not many of them) then a mist of the red paint for something to build onto then a good few coats of lovely Flame Red
Hopefully get all the painting done in one day!
Don't worry there will be pictures once it's done :) Hopefully this year will see it painted, just need to work at it
well done fella, got mine running aswell. like you say its a good feeling when it fires into life after sooo long!! good man for painting it yourself to, my old man normally does the painting but i decided as its my project i'll have a go myself and done the interior, its actually quite easy its just all in the preperation! don't add extra hardener than it says i.e 2:1 etc. more hardener will just make the paint hard and crack for to easy not nessacerly dry faster, if you need it to dry quick you need fast hardener etc. i've used normal hardener, thinners etc just in a normal workshop temps and found it drys ok, just make sure its not dusty!!
Shouldn't be too dusty mate, going to have a major tidy up in the lockup and make sure the floor is well soaked :)
Again I'm not going for a show car look just want the car all one colour and hopefully a decent paint finish :thumb:
Coming along very well dude.
Cheers Benn :thumb:
not neccacerily (sp) as if you use slow or medium activator thats what the use in the ovens mate so the piant wont cure if your doing it in the garage mate just a heads up likes
I think it's Fast Hardner as it's the same stuff we used at college...Going to get a heater rigged up in there as well to speed things up :)
Just going to take my time with the application, going to also get the room up to temperature before painting as well and see if that works!
I would use a quicker hardner too as you'll be doing it some where with little or no heat.
Taking your time and doing the prep right will see you get a good finish dude.
glad to hear you got it running mate good luck with the painting
Cheers :)
glad to hear it running mate and good luck with the paint

Update on the Nova!
Was wanting to do a wee bit before I updated the thread so here goes
First off, I swapped my spare/new Irmscher cam cover for this nicely refurbished, complete Irmscher UK airbox...Like so;

Onto the shell - Got all the repairs seam sealed up, flatted back with 400 grit dry paper then some schutz onto the back panel and corners etc;

On the ground...Again;

Random;

Repair on the pillar sanded back and looking top notch, into etch primer now;
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...NovaWIP246.jpg
Mixed up some 2k Primer...Was a bit nervous as I know it's getting close to crunch time lol But was well happy with the application and mixing of the primer but I could argue the air pressure was a bit too high so I'll need to look into that but heres how it sits atm;

Back panel etc after schutzing;

Then one to finish;

That is all for now

Loving the early bumper/grill vaughan :thumb:
Any idea when it will be ready for paint?
Arch repairs look great, nice work.
The last pic makes you look like a dwarf though.
as always,top stuff mate.Nice job on the arches.
I hope the whole car works out the way I want it, I'm kinda going for an early SR theme but with Sport gear as well thrown into the mix - A kinda 'Custom' ;)
I've no idea when it'll be ready for paint, quite a wee while away yet, a lot of prep still to do and some more schutzing and sealing etc - Just wanted the repairs into 2k primer so I can see how it looks and get it all flatted back
The arch repairs are allright, for doing them myself (Except the welding of them) I'm no bodyshop expert...yet lol but I'm fairly happy with them :)
Cheers for the positive comments :)
good progress mate, will be nice to see it painted man
keep up the progress :)
Cheers Moffat :)
seems to have came on alot in the last wee while..
well done matey..
arch repair looks great, reminds me of when i did my black nova..bit of a ballache, although it was my first time aswell.
its always good when you get a good result, i think i spent a week on either side. results were worth it though.
keep up the good work, our projects will proably be finishd about the same time! i am hoping for a few meets/shows with sport next year.:thumb:
no probs fella
I'd love this done for next year mate - Time will tell though
Back arches are a night mare like but I'd know what to do the next time so maybe it'd be easier :)
getting there now buddy keep up the good work.
Cheers Ricky :) It's getting there very slowly lol

Still doesn't make any sense even in f*cking English lol
Plus why have Spain as your location and type in French ? Weirdo lol
hes using translator,and has for some reason put span-french lol

Got a link to the site Andy ?
The truth is that it is as says our friend andy I come from the club gsi madrid and several more that it is here in españa.
On the other hand for that I come to this club it is porqué I like it much them nongoes and I like it also since you it stop of statics and engine not if I explain, on the language I make it first in Spanish and later I it translate to the Englishman by means of a translator, but for that you eh writing in your post is because I have read myself everything you page and me to tasted to without another greeting.
