Anyway, today, I are mostly been doing the job ive been dreading the most. LOOOOOM
I shall now offer some advise to those looking for a Nova to prep as a track toy... DONT BUY AN SPI, the looms are basically titanic in proportions, unlike the MPi models where the engine harness is seperate to the car loom, SPi jobbies are one complete big bastid bunch of cable!
! Get a nice carb model with bugger all loom LOL .. unlike this little lot...

Anyway, took me all day, mainly to remove all the horrible gloopy stuff they insist on using to hold the cables together, but i managed to chop out all the engine harness, and all the heater controls etc, and hopefully, unlike when i did the blue ones loom, its going to work first time :-)

Tomorrow im up there all day till late, and all day saturday, and I intend to have the dash and (currently not designed or fabricated) switch panel all bolted in and ready to go, then all i need is a rad and i can fire up the beast and see if anything catches fire lol
-
the good ol gunk on cables lol even after washing it makes your hands sticky lol
-
see if anything catches fire lmfao!!
-
Sri looms are a pain in the derrierre too, have the fire extinguisher ready before you connect the battery, no-one wants to see that shell burnt.
-
Good to see you have fun removing the spi engine loom, Lol.

Well, i got it all in, and it didnt work, due to some stupidness by me (namely chopping out the hazard plug because i was rushing. So Dar gave me his MK1 loom, and im currently having fun and games with this one too, namely splicing the dials plug onto the fecker! There be some dodgy colour differences, and theyre scary!

Well i nearly broke down in tears this weekend, basically Im a fool and wasnt concentrating when chopping the loom down, and basically I chopped the hazard block off. As we all know, the whole Nova electrical system runs through the hazard switch thanks to those spanish feckers, and after attempting to splice it back in again, it wouldnt work so loom number 1 was binned! Dar then donated a MK1 loom which I attempted to splice MK2 clocks onto... again, mammoth failiure.
So I ripped the wiring loom out of the blue shell, and it works like a charm (of course). Basically a day and a halfs work wasted! But hey, you live and learn. Next time i chop a loom down ill be concentrating
ANyway, after all the faffing around, i have the car fully wired and working. First job was to chop a bit more off the dash to get it to fit around the cage, and then make a template for the switch panel..

Then me and Dar went to see one of his mates who has a metalwork shop, and he cut me a piece of ally out and bent it for me, then it was back to the barn to fit the switches..

Then I had to do my own bit of cutting to make the ignition/battery cut switch..

This was the end result, quite chuffed with it TBH, especially after all the grief ive had over the last few days!

Other jobs done includes re fitting the rear beam after my bushes arrived, and fitting the front TCA's. Cant put the whole front together as the wrong tie bar bushes arrived, and I also need new inner and outer CV's which is a job for another pay cheque lol.
