It doesnt matter what pump you use to supply the swirl pot, it's still not under pressure. The fuel system only pressurises once it encounters the fuel pressure reg after the main pump. Feeding the swirl pot, it just recirculates once its full back to the tank under no pressure :thumb:Quote:

No reason other than you dont need a high pressure one imho. They both pump at about the same rate anyway, the only difference is the amount of pressure they can pump against. Myself and Dar just had the standard inj pump in the back anyway, just didnt make sense swapping them for low pressure variants when the inj pump would do the job just as well.Quote:

Had to put my car back together since I have got some work to do. So I thought I would show you how far I have got.
Also picked up my new front bearings today so now I can get the hubs machined and fix the car ready for testing this front splitter idea.

Enough of a gap at the rear to let the hot engine air out. Infact it will be lower pressure under the car so the air should be sucked out of the engine bay. This was before I cut the slot out for the silencer.

It looks tight to the wheels but there is plenty of room all the way from lock to lock. Although I may chop off another inch.

Things to do
1) Finish the shaping of it, including making a decision on what to do where the exhaust manifold gets close.
2) Painting.
3) Mounts.
4) Tethers.
5) Test.
Also the only part that actually gives me the downforce is the 3" lip at the front, the rest of it is for a clean air flow and mounting points. It currently weighs in at 5.6kg
If it doesn't work it will come off. However if I have to take it off I will be making some kind of underside engine cover, but out of something alot lighter.
The idea works very well, in fact had similar ideas my self
Altho i was thinking of doing the whole underside of the car
Would love it to sit really low too but keeping it level is dam hard as it upsets the balance.
Will be working on that tho ;)

may be a dumb one but you you going to test it ? ham,mer around a track and see if it feels better ?

The idea is to first of all do a few laps and come in to make sure the thing isn't falling off or burning etc etc. Then I will pop out again and try harder. Maybe do a few full chat laps. Come in check it all over again. Get the G meter readings and the lap times.

I may have to uprate the springs on the front so It may be a case of go out, find the springs are too soft. Pop to Merlin and get some new ones. Fit it all up and start again.
It will also be done on a day where there are hardly any cars on track i.e. a normal trackday not an action day.
Same here, me and a mate have been talking about ground effects for a while, just neither of us have got round to it yet tho. We were planning on using a polyboard plastic type thing, lighter than the wood I expect, comes in 8x4 sheets. I'll fine out the proper name if your interested, possibly for future develpments...
Only problem is exhaust heat, but easily solved.
