good to hear, mr count.
Good luck with phase 2 of the build James, I'am sure it will be awesome !
Your down with the legends now, we'll find you a nice engine to play with.
pm'd Benn :)
And sent back.
Right then people the time has come to announce 'phase two' as JB put it of my build.
After some long hard thinking I have decided to take a completely different approach engine wise (and to the whole build to be fair).
As for the car its self i still have the shell, custom suspension parts, poly carbs etc but most of the other expensive parts have gone so i will be rebuilding on more of a budget lol when i have the funds.
So the engine....yes i am going small block but for a few good reasons, this isn't the usual small block affair, i'm going to try turbo power (as i'm working for a turbo company now it would be rude not to), my theory behind this being small block weight and handling, turbo boost, but i should be able to achieve similar power to a well tuned xe on bodies or a standard/mildly tuned let.
Plans at present are stand alone management, custom inlet and exhaust manifolds, lowered compression ratio, and a hybrid turbo. I will probably opt for an F20 box and shafts for the moment as i'm unsure if the small block boxes will cope with the output?
The hybrid turbo will consist of T2 turbine housing from an old landrover of all things as it has the AR (air ratio) im after, T25 comp cover and bearing housing probably from a nissan s14 200sx, but with a modern upgraded compressor wheel.
I have opted for this turbo option as it will be well capable of coping with the power output i'm after (200bhp plus) but should also be progressive power. It will also be more 'cost effective' if it all goes t i t s up (were as a ball bearing turbo wouldn't be as they expensive if things go wrong)
Turboing this engine properly is quite a 'gray' area as it hasn't been done to many times so this is going to be a suck it and see mission although saying that the basic rules of turboing still apply.
Your thoughts and opinions are welcome as usual and i hope to actually get on with something when i'm home next!
Thanks you :thumb:
get it done :)
As simple as that lolQuote:

if baxter managed 200+ i cant see why you cant, and if you build the engine to take the power i cant see why you would have any problems tbh
It will be a cracker if it goes right  and i have no doubt that the power is possible but as you say it will need to be built for the job.Quote:
