Will be picking up a new manifold/system on Sat before the RR day, so that means the rr will be done with my old blowing ashley system still fitted :(
Unless I fit the new stuff in Jamsports carpark and then do the rr run lol

lol i'll bring a spanner
Ill give ya a hand Ad, although i'm working now :(
Unlucky Coochi :(
Wont be fitting the exhaust now on the day, just realised that i dont have the correct lambda sensor etc yet for it, as the standard one isn't suitable.
Oh well.
Im off work till a week on friday(using all my holidays up before my contract expires lol), so i have plenty of time to fit it next week :)
I know, might have sorted it now though! And fair play, i could bring one with me :p
Thats alright for some !!!
Right.
Picked up some GSi rear seats on Saturday off Baxter, who collected them off NovaCabrio for me :)
Fitted:

Also collected some GSi sill trims off Franny today, cheers mate

Also on Saturday I collected my new exhaust system and manifold. Its a prototype, custom made at Ashley, to fit a 1400/1600 16v Nova. 2 box, stainless steel 2.25" pipework, 3" slash cut tail, 4-1 manifold with 2.25" flange, i suspect it cost a lot of money originally, but i got it for a great price :) lol
Got it sprayed up today, notice the front pipe join is a slip/clamp join instead of a normal flexi cone type join, which gives a better flow ;)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0398Medium.jpg
The tail isn't what i would of chosen, but i cant complain, and it'll do fine.
I'll get the lot fitted this week sometime(but may decide to move the lambda position, as i dont like it just sensing one cylinders exhaust gases, has the potential to cause damage if say an injector failed)
Anyways, back to the rolling road, all went well and i came back very pleased with my results, if anything the rollers may have been a bit on the under reading side, as quite a few engines made below standard power.
Mine made 127bhp, and 111 lb/ft, though the torque peaked at 2900rpm, which was low, but you can see from the graph the peak level pretty much holds out through the rev range, instead of just below low-peak-low
Old graph with a standard inlet fitted(notice torque line)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...08_07-resi.jpg
Jamsports graph, with powerbox fitted:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...h2008Large.jpg
And a few pics of the car at Jamsport(shame about the TV pics being done when the car was the dirtiest it has ever been, thats what a 130mile through snow and hail down the m1 does lol) Oh well

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...w/DSCN0307.jpg
And a vid of it on the rollers:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...rt/th_Mine.jpg
Thats all for now, more when i fit the manifold/system :)
Are those rear GSi door cards cut down ?
Nope.
There standard 1.2 rear cards sprayed black ;)
Cracked on with the system today, and for once, everything fitted perfectly first go lol
Old vs New manifold:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0414Medium.jpg
Manifold on(with lambda just sensing one cylinder, but it'll do for now)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0416Medium.jpg
Old vs New Backbox(larger pipe bore, and bigger silencer)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0420Medium.jpg
All fitted:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0421Medium.jpg
The previously owner must of liked the angled exit of a mk1, and hence had the tail made like that. Id prefer a straight exit, but it'll do nicely.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0429Medium.jpg
All good, sits nicely, and even better doesn't tap on the car underside like the old system lol. It sounds pretty cool too :)
Good job Mr Ad!
Not sure if it suits the car but it does the job no doubt!
good stuff ad ,:thumb: what does it feel like to drive
Drives well mate, very well.
It even pulls fine from low down.
Im pleased with it tbh, and dont really see a reason to spend anything else on the engine. It does its job day in, day out, and has enough power to have some fun with :)
Im looking forward to taking it round Combe on the 19th, and seeing what sort of 1/4 times it does now at Pod :)
Good work, you need some GSI front door cards now to match in!
They will be on when i pick them up off Benn at Combe  :D
Right, time for an update.
As most people know, i went Combe on the 19th, had a cracking day. Car had a good hammering, and even drove the 150mile there, and 150mile home without even as much as a misfire :D
Few pics:

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ombe/ad1rs.jpg
Also had a passenger ride in Lee's, which made me realise i need more powahhh Lmao
So the plans are ARP rod bolts, headwork, Go-Tech MFi engine management from Jamsport, and a set of Newmanns 288 cams(good for 3k to 7.5k rpm), my current inlet is staying(i dont see it being much of a problem, tb's would be nice but ££££)
Hoping get that all sorted for this June/July time. Hopefully will see over 150bhp.
Also planning on getting another runaround and making my car more suitable for track, fully stripped, F/G bonnet and boot come to mind.
And finally, for this years PV etc i got hold of some 80/90mm rear springs off Twag, and they sit the rear end nicely.
Before on 60s(ignore rusting arch :( ):

After:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0528Medium.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0530Medium.jpg
Difference between 60s and 80s:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...0517Medium.jpg
They will only be used for shows etc, as there not exaclty suited to good handling,Lol.
Thats all for now, update when the cams etc etc arrive.
good stuff Ad..
that's like me with the suspension, i have mine, 40/60 for everyday driving, and if i wanna take some nice pic's or car meet etc, i'll throw the 90's on and drop the front down lol
looks good at combe and is one of my favorite novas on here at the moment:thumb: .it was only 3 week ago when you said you had enough power but i think i can safely say you've been biten by the track buglol
Grab some pictures of it off your drive so we can see how it sits better!
P.S. Look at that arch :p
looking good Ad, looks sweet being that low, however it will probably be alot more liftoff oversteery when you're on the track next ;)

Hmm, or I could just fit a big xe.No no no, must stay small block lol
Just fit an xe! All this to make the power of the xe maybe, when you can have the power to begin with lol
why did this only make 127 bhp on the rollers when ppl quote these make loads more?
That drop looks great!
Arch isnt too bad, get on it now and it might not be as bad.
becasue the only good xe is the one with a turbo, N/a xe's suck ass unless breathed on :thumb: lolQuote:

When you say people quote loads more, how do you mean?
Yes over 200bhp is possible with a lot of money :thumb:
Cheers Benn, i really like the ride height, and best of all the wheels dont rub, even with all the interior in :D
Engine mods are on hold atm, i have the 288 cams, but nothing else atm. But im kind of tempted with a cheap 20xe, and a WON nitrous kit for 1/4 miles.... Would cost less than getting my current engine to 150hp Imo.
keep the 1.6, theres too many bigblocks about! will be a good feeling when your 1.6 keeps up if not beats a 2 litre!
maccas
Or in a barge of a Calibra + diff + rain lol lolQuote:

And today, i went for a quick photoshoot, and to prove to iain that the car sits perfectly level with the 90mm rear springs on
Heres the best pics:

Might be getting hold of another complete 16xe block too (already fitted with Arps, .5mm rebore etc), which would save me a lot of money and time. Would just need wip the pistons out and get them pocketed.
Thanks :D That does sit well. I want to go out and take some photos with you next time I see you. :thumb:Quote:

Look at the bottom of his post, he's planning pocketed pistons.
Lol, fronts staying as it is ;)Quote:

So i need 2mm pockets putting into them, but i really need another bottom end to play about with as i need a car everyday so cant have my current engine in bits :(
Oh, also bought this. A DIY build Wideband lambda controller and display, from the US :)
Comes like this

Handy for mapping :D
Just need a Bosch W/B sensor :)
Edit-Just hooked it up to a spare battery, and all is working fine
