good times rob, just drop me a PM if you have any luck :)
ok so just had a really good time in the shed.
was really bummed out, since i couldnt find the right Y piece for the exhaust. so i decided i would make one from what i had.
and these are the results, please note its still tacked together and still needs some work, as you can see from the massive gapeing hole lol.

I bet it will have a slighty funny exhaust note when done haha
Get welding.
why do you say that lol.
ok seeing as its payday. i bought some nice bits. a small update for now, and a bigger one tomorrow.
i got these bad boys, need to machine the inside out, and redrill the holes and they will fit. but i had the caliper fully mounted, and the disc spins fine. there is a gap in the picture, but that is where the hub will go back further.

will get all the bits on the car once it stops raining!
Nice to see some more progress!
Project seems to be going well mate, Just bought a Chevette last night, 2 door saloon. Keep up the good work! :thumb:
lol thanks guys, i bolted on the hubs and they bolt up fine and take the calipers. good times
all i need to do now is restrict the steering so the calipers dont clunk the lower arm.
and now going to pick up another rear axle.
Restrict the steering, that don't sound like an MOT friendly thing..
Good progress though, glad you pushing on with it.
Scott
MOT is fine with restricted steering, they would be more unhappy with the calipers hitting the lower arms!
What the feck is going on with the arb lowering blocks, did you cock up? Surly better to use a full block?!?!
i have an idea to restrict the steering, just need to have a closer look when its dry.
and lol alex to the ARB lowering blocks. i have done research, out of the two people i saw, one used a full block, and one used to skinny tubes.
the solid blocks, were heavy. and this doesnt loose any strength at all.
small update, travelled 300 miles to get another axle as it was complete.
so im gonna rob the ARB, the brake internals and thats it i think lol.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/f8fa8182.jpg
not a massive amount being done atm, but small bits none the less.
i know have welded the top half of the manifold. and killed my welder in the process. not good.
and also stripped the spare axle for its ARB, brakes, and a few other small bits. refurbed them, and will put them on tomorrow hopefully. pending weather lol.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/a307a3fb.jpg
also, for the first time, i assembled some brake drums. never done it before and it was easy tbh.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/e71285b2.jpg
Yea drums are peice of pish, can be a bit fiddly if youve got fat thumbs though :(
Ahh **** project, now your a bluer.
another blues brother  welcome bro
lol my thumbs are fat, i used pliers instead.Quote:

another question. i have put the handbrake cable on, and its fully adjusted, and it doesnt bite, is this because there isnt any fluid in the system.
to push them off the MC a little bit?
Dude, find a way around! Less steering lock equals less sideways angle. :( lol
Your need fluid in the system to get the brake shoes adjusted, without worrying about the handbrake yet.Quote:

done a few bits today, rear anti roll bar on, need to make some brackets to weld to the shell.
and started offering up my exhaust parts. its going to have to come out the other side then it does from standard, so i will make custom brackets all around lol.
more pics on the exhaust when i have process...

very nice, i bet you cat wait to go sideways!!!
Looking good, Nice to see you doing things yourself and not just buying everything. Out of intrest have you ground the welds on then inside of the manifold down or are they still rough? If you can and havnt it would be a good idea! keep up the good work! Will be well worth it soon!
thanks mate,
i havent yet, but im going to do the ones around the flange. and then if i can get to any others i will as well :)
ok some more work, small amounts i know, but it keeps me busy before it gets dark!
manifold painted, and on...

and compressed.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...6/766db03e.jpg
and now i have a dilemma with the backbox... im happy to use this one as it was free. but i think i might do something simular to count did on the brown saloon where it bends under the boot.
opinions please

Looking good, it run yet:p
Erm, exhaust looks hellishly low?
Isnt this going down like 200mm?
lol, no not running yet!
and yeh the exhaust might be abit low, but i can raise it a tad if need be be shortening the manifold.
and no it will be down maybe 40 on a set of avo's
Good work mate, glad to see your getting on with it..
Now not to piss on your bonfire, but I'm sure in the one pic i see that you have pot of helfrauds high temp paint, did you paint the manifold with this??
If so, take it out the bay and strip it all off again, as i used it on mine and it WILL burn all off within a day of you running the car and cause lots and lots of rank smelling black smoke!
But you can paint it with B&Q BBQ/Stove hight temp paint, as i used this on my system and its not budged at all, i need to redo my manifold at some point.
Scott
plastikote black bbq, £6 A TIN, B N Q
lol, ok, your not pissing on my fire, just advising me.
i shall redo it at some point in the future :)
Liking the progress
Not keen on that backbox tho, something similar to Counts would be better IMO
Standard backbox FTL
