Bit of an update on the nova....
Got the oil leak and water leak sorted . The oil leak turned out to be a nut on the oil pump not fully nipped up. The water leak was the 3 way pipe on the back on the water pump where it meets the piccolo tube - a jubilee clip was not on right so after taking part of the driveshaft out and the idle control valve for access its now fixed and no leaks!
Ran the engine up to full working temp with the fan kicking in on the normal thermostatic switch and the engine now sounds really smooth with no ticks knocks or funny noises.
The charging light situation has now sorted itself out and no warning lights are on the dashes and all the gauages show the correct readings.
Next on the jobs to do is get the central console in along with the kickwell covers (being converted from corsa ones). I can then get the front and rear seats in.
More pics to follow once something looks different!!!
Cheers
Joff
O......M.......G this thread took me so long to read but holy mother of jesus thats a PHAT nova you are a very lucky boy to have built this and must of saved up scince you were like 5 lol if you dont mind me asking how much has it cost you up to present?
top man joff! :thumb: lol
P.S. has anyone seen a more dedicated project like this one? as i have not been with NL for that long
not many like this, the bloke is a master
This car is going to be worth th entrance fee into PVS on its own............
Right got some more work done today - with the engine now fully working I have turned my attention to getting some of the interior sorted so I can get the seats in and take it for a spin!
First job was to sort the centre console - I have decided to mount the intercooler inlet and outlet temp displays in the ashtray so needed a home for the corsa triple info display and came up with this (early stages) ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...a/Centre3a.jpg
It then needed a bit of blending and smoothing ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...a/Centre4a.jpg
And finally spraying matt black ready for the flocking ...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...a/Centre5a.jpg
Also started on the kickwell - I have decided that as per the corsa application its easier to mount the ECU here than having keep dropping on my feet whilst driving (as the corsa dash does not have a drivers side shelf!
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ova/Kick1a.jpg
Also managed to get the rear bumper fitted - looks quite good without the number plate light and towing eye recess .....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15.../RBumper1a.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15.../RBumper2a.jpg
I also sorted out the mounting holes on the nearside which needed lengthening as the bumper sat too low down the quarter panel as seen here.....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15.../RBumper3a.jpg
More updates later.
Joff

Sorry to be a pain Joff but is this the Nova that used to be red that you re-shelled??
If it was, when it was red, it was the best Nova i'd ever seen pics of - thanks to TopBuzz.co.uk :)
Yes it was red back in 2002 - here's a pic before it went into Total Vauxhall :-Quote:

is it going to have the Astra SXi (MK4) Wheels on it??
Looking mint, its going to be an awesome show car when finished.
them seets look very well done,pm sent
this looking good! the interior is so nice!
good work!
Interior & dash are looking spot on now its nearing completion Joff.
I was a little undecided going from earlier pics, but I've seen the light. Nice!
I'm personally not a fan of the interior at all..
But the rest of the car, general attention to detail and pure passion is amazing. Hopefully when i do mine this winter, i'l beable to have the time and money to get the exterior/underneath looking as good !
cars looking absolutely mint joff!
The SXI wheels are for general running around / trackday / drag strip action and have Yokohama A539's on them.Quote:

More of an update quickly - managed to get the subframe welded to the runners for the passenger seat and installed .....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ova/seat6a.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ova/seat7a.jpg
Next jobs are to sort out the passenger side kick panel, make up a panel for behind the central console and sort the passenger side shelf and glove box.
Cheers
Joff
nice work, but your not leaving that steering wheel are you ;) lol
Yeah, I like the 1.0 L look !!!!! :cuckoo: No its there just so I can move the hubs around whilst I was sorting the brakes and driveshafts.Quote:

Joff
looking good joff!what seats are those?
They are standard Sparco Torino's which have been retrimmed in alcantara. Nova subframes have been adapted to fit the sparco sliders so I still have full front - back adjustability.Quote:

I am currently having some door cards and sunvisors sorted to match the rest of the interior.

nice one looks smart!
This has come on really far since I lasy saw this thread a few weeks back. All credit to you mate. I just hope you aren't disappointed with the car when you drive it.
See you at PV - I'll come say hello and we can share notes on Nova LET nightmares! lmao
this really is goin to be a 07-plate nova, its brand new lol
top work mate!!
Started working on the rest of the dash bits .....
Did a mock up of the digi-dash with the corsa clock surround - square peg round hole springs to mind ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...nova/LCD1a.jpg
It will need some trimming at the top corners but looks like it will just fit (hopefully!)
Also started sorting the surround for the CD-changer in the glovebox ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...va/glove1a.jpg
Also started on fitting the Nos progressive controller to the inside of the glovebox lid - I'm having to make up a cover for the unit to cover over the bolts and wiring ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...glovelid1a.jpg
Needs a bit more smoothing over and then flocking !
Also finished off the new ashtray with the two temp display units for the intercooler inlet / outlet sensors ....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...nova/ash6a.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...nova/ash4a.jpg
Just need the displays putting in and wiring up.
Thats it for now - more updates shortly.
Joff
