Maybe we should have weighted it, should we get it back out and check the weight

Probably the prettyest way to blow £1k :cry:
Nice clutch, I've got the same in the Peugeot and its properly vicious, are you converting to a hydraulic clutch ?
PS Things are moving in the tie bar department, I'll be in touch soon hopefully.
Yeh I see what you mean, sadly its not a cheap conversion but personally well worth it
As to the question of tie bars, LOL things are progressing, I'll leave it at that ha ha
You can use the oe centre push if it suits the type of release bearing your clutch now does, I'm sure knocking up a cylinder to mount on the pedal box shouldn't be too much effort.
I could think of prettier things to spend 1K on but that flywheel looks nice, I'll have to take a proper look on Thursday if I don't see it before :thumb:
P.S leave it on the kitchen table, taking it down the garage will probably end up with it being damaged like 90% of the things that get taken down there :(
Looking bombproof Gareth. I would make the push to hydraulic release though; find an old vectra or similar to beef the top ally bleed union & pipe, maybe the slave cylinder too.
If not buy a new one for about £90, the part number is CSC007 for a QH or Equiv is MSC007 for the C20XE.
When you do get round to doing the pedal box, you want a 0.75 master cylinder. Be careful when bleeding & welding in something to limit the clutch pedal travel as if you let it go too much you will burst the slave cylinder; gearbox off again & another £90... Lee303 & the Topgear boffins that built the green MK2 escort 2L for Clarksons track day fell into this trap.
Best way is to have someone under the car watching it push as you gradually depress the pedal, then when it reaches full travel, mark where the pedal is to weld in some sort of physical stop.
Cheers mate in theroy that's what I'm trying to achieve, but I know at this level forever is never and everything Is consumable. I'm looking at following the hydraulic route steveboyslim is being kind enough to look into clutch centres etc. But thanks for the info that's a great start for me. Cheers :thumb:

275 BHP from 8,000rpm?
looking good mate
244bhp and 190ft/lb is very good power! think you will be impressed once you get in it, a lot of people quote more from these engines but anything around the 250bhp is very good and more realistic very impressed with your tourqe figure, what spec cams are in it?

Hi mike thanks I know what you mean I'm desperate to get it on the road. Realisticly I'm looking to squeeze a bit more power (255-260ish) and maybe 195lb ft torque.
I'm not sure what cams other than there piper steveboyslim fitted them and I have never looked at what is stamped on the side.
Cheers Gareth
i had 190bhp in my xe on jenveys and that was good enough for me, so that extra bhp will be just the ticket!! i saw all your engine bits in the boot of steves car at the start of the summer!! look foward to the end result.
