Just made a list of things to do, and going by my work rate its not looking good for Combe lol lol
*note, the sunroof. When people try and fit full cages into a sunroof shell, why do they not fit? Do they touch the winder or something? This sunroof must be an aftermarket conversion, as its not a gm sunroof, has no winder... Its just a tilt up effort.... So hopefully it'll be fine.
Also, are the rear arches tighter on a mk1 shell? The 15s and proxes rub like fook, even just rolling the shell!! They cleared on the mk2. Shall have to get the grinder out on the arch lips sometime.
Main hoop doesn't usually fit as the cassette for the sliding part of the sunroof goes right to the back of the car. If it's just a pop up it should be fine.
Sound!
Yeah, its just a pop up type, has no sliding mechanism
IIRRC some of the early mk1's had that type of sun roof?Quote:

The aftermarket one's were also installed by the dealers when a customer would buy a new car that was already made.
Have fun with it!
Tempted keep them like that for track! lolQuote:

Ive got a mids sticker somewhere though, so could fit that in rear side window or somewhere.
TBH there isnt a load of work to do to get it driveable. Basically just bolting stuff on. The exterior can stay how it is....
Main things to do:
Weld bay/Repaint bay after weldage(altho the bays solid and john drove it xe'd with no welding...), but still probably worth doing whilst the bays empty.
Swap front brakes/brake servo over to mine
Get the Avo's on
Fit buckets in
Get engine/box in, and swap the fuel tank over to mine.
Thats pretty much it to get it driveable, dont NEED the cage in right away.
Oh, and then an mot, which should be fine tbh. Emissions etc aint going be a problem on a b-plater.... It also doesnt need side repeaters, rear seatbelts etc lol
Yeah ive always found the early mk1s cant handle 195s lol I took the grinder on mine and they cleared fine only to discover that they were tthen hitting on the shock plastic cover. I now run 185s and don't have any problems lol
Im going have clearence issues on the inner and outer...
The outer being the tight arches, and the inner being the Avo coilover... lol
That looks like a very clean shell you have there... Good luck with the reshell adam.
