Clips are in, new as well
Don't mk1 bumpers have a little bit that kinda flicks up and goes under the HL? That should sort the gap out..
Ahh yeah I did forget that bit on the bumper  maybe I should of waited till I put the bumper on before thinking it looked crap
Polished wheels now up forsale
Going to get the Cav Expressions on now
Edd......... Are you selling the polished wheels because they wont fit without rolled arches or is their another issue with fitment? If its down to the arch issue Id say you were crazy!! The wheels would probably be the only set you'll ever see around on a nova so totally exclusive and as I seem to remember you needing one arch painting due to a scrape and it wouldnt take much more to have the other side done after both have been rolled. Done properly their wouldnt even be any need for filler and If you got in touch with Ade culley he could tell you what paint was used so a perfect match could be achieved also. At the end of the day its just my opinion and I dont know the ins and outs but you obviously really wanted them wheels on the car so Id just sort the arches to suit. You'll be gutted if you sell and see them on another nova a little down the line!Quote:

I'm still a little unsure that I want to be rolling mint arches rear arches tho
The fronts is the problem really, if the fronts were rolled they would clear no doubt, just didn't want to ruin a set of genuine wings
I may speak to my bodywork guy to see what he says
Is rolling arches a job for someone in the trade?
I will be gutted if I see them on another Nova your right Nick
Is there any way of getting hold of Ade Culley ? As my painter mate already wants to know what paint was used
id role them too edd if its done right it wont ruin the wings and would be unique when done

If arches are sealed up properly they will last for years especially if your only ever going to use it in good weather? I would say as Ade worked for a vw/audi dealer at the time he painted that shell they will have been using a quality paint system such as Glasurit or ICI which is exactly what we use at work but with a bmw label. Im sure Rich could give you some info and a number for him or If not Im sure I know someone who will have it and can pass it on. What you need to know is the paint manufacturer, Whether he used solid colour or base and clear and what shade he used which I presume will be standard. Get them sorted, stick on a stock rear beam and away you go! Any help you need I can gladly advise just drop me a pm anytime.
Nick.
As Nick said, as long as they are rolled proplely you wont have a prob.
Thanks for the advice guys, I'll speak to my friend Matt who has his own bodywork business I'm sure he'll be able to roll them, he's been in the trade 20+ years and has painted a few of my cars and has done my Zender bumper and will be doing the arch scrape
I'll ask Rich for some more details on the paint that was used
The arches on the rear look so factory tho lol shame to roll them lol
The fronts deffo need doing, but I might see if anything can be done to give just a few mill on the rear with a standard beam in
Edd
what about getting the wheel hubs milled by a few mm to give the clearenceQuote:

Forsale thread now deleted, cheers Hobbit :)
Having a std arch lip is way way way over rated. Clearace for the win.
Edd, I am sure I gave you a paint sample with the car, would be with all the paperwork.
Its a piece of very thin metal which is painted one side and has the manufacturer and other details written on the back.
Its not ICI or the other one mentioned by Nick but it is a well known paint manufacturer. Ade was not working for VW at the time, it was a general bodyshop chain from the North West but I cannot remember the name.
I'll have a look when I get home in a bit, if I have it will be in the envolope you gave me
Bit of a update-
I managed to speak to Ade Culley yesterday, who painted the shell, he told me in detail what was used so I can pass the info on to my mate who's going to the paint work
I also spoke to Matt ( chap with the bodyshop ) about rolling the front arches, he said he had a tool to do them with :)
So, polished wheels are staying :d trip to the bodyshop in 6/7 weeks (got to get mot before that tho :( ) and I might yet make Billing in it :)
Top work as ever Edd, really coming along well :thumb: your patience and attention to detail is spot on...I can't get my head round how you are ashamed of how 'dirty' it is...looks clean as fook to me lol :)
Cheers Rich
I think that's the first time in 33 years that anyone has said I have patience lol
The sides are really dirty, I used Autogylm Bumper Care on the seals when I put the glass in, thought it might act as a lube lol did a bit but went all over the glass lol
Awesome dude, get the mot done, then even if you cant get the wheels on you can make Billing.
You use the orange ones off ebay? I just got some off of rallydesign, and they're a lot more 'rubbery' than the ones I had before off ebay, much closer to the standard ones but obviously stronger, shouldn't have too much vibration to them I would have thought!Quote:

lol it actually ain't the exhaust rubbers it was the solid rear mount lol
I did think at the time I never noticed anything in mine with them, but it vibrated/rattled anyway so I probably wouldn't lol
Anyway, rallydesign exhaust bushes, very good lol Come in yellow too! :d
Firstly no pics at all
Secondly, FOOKING PISSED OFF WITH THE SCRAP PILE   lol
It's very nearly ready for a MOT but more problems keep arising :(
Pristine Wheels who refurbished the alloys blasted the powdercoating on and it's covered the brass bits that the wheel bolts sit on to, so only about 1mm of the taper on the bolt touches, so I'll have to Dremel all the powdercoat out of the 16 holes ffs
On a good note I've re fitted the front wings and I'm now confident that the fronts won't catch
Also dropped another beam, but standard, down the powdercoaters, will fit that when it's back and run it with washers on the two lower stub axle bolts to make the rears not catch the arch, wish I'd thought of that in the first place tbh
Finally the thing that's pissed me off is the rust spot that coming through in the centre of the roof
I swear it's only come through in the last few months as I polished the roof 6/7 months ago
It's was noticed by me then friend who painting the arch and front spoiler says it looks like some sort of contamination in the primer/e coat
So this statement of SPL is spot on
The rust spot is about the size of a 10p coin, would post a pic but it didnt come out well, will take another later.Quote:

Soooo,
part of me wants to just leave it all till next year as it's pissed me right off :(
or could persevere with the other problems and get the roof spotted in ?
Then get the roof done over the winter ?
But I did want it pretty much perfect for when it's on the road ?
Plus I'm tighter on cash than when I started build it :(
Not sure what to do with it now tbh
:(:(:(:(
Edd
Just get the roof spotted ATM and stick with it, the paint will hardly be faded as the cars never been used lol,
Hopefully it'll give you a break soon, or you might end up " doing a merris " lollollol
I was thinking about this when I have had an issue with rubbing my arches, have you considered machining the face of the rear drum which the wheels mount to, it has a lip and is slightly thicker where the wheel mounts to it, you could remove some material from there. Even if you can only get 1 maybe 2mm removed, it all adds up. I am considereding machining a set of drums down a mm or two on mine.
Ignore the roof, get the rest of done, the roof can be done last thing.
I have been thinking about taking sone of the drum as well Paul, I will look into that for sure at a later date, washers cost less and that's important ATM lolQuote:

Only joking mate as many have said build it all up :thumb:
lets see who will have theres on the road 1st you or me :)
Bit of a update ;
I decided not to set eyes on it for a week or so after the roof issues lol
One of the main hold ups has been me waiting to get these;
http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/r...S/12baace0.jpg
There new seals for the front doors, the 2 small ones that go down the metal pillar that divides the front quarter glass and the main seals that run on the top of the door and down the back edge
I already have the front quarter seals and outer and inner bottom seals
I had to wait fo them as they were kindly sorted out by Steve/duick and picked up by Rich/Novasport on his recent trip to see Steve, then delivered to Craig at Billing lol
Big thanks to Rich and Craig for getting them to me, cheers guys
Today I had a call from the powdercoaters to say the my other beam is ready so I now have everything to finish it
I set my self a bit of a deadline to have it MOT'd in 5 weeks
I'll post up some more pics of what's happening over next few days
Edd
Ah very nice, new seals make difference too feel and to look.
My words I'd forgot about this shiiter, get on with it and don't loose faith or I'll beat you with a large stick or even an axe borrowed from Merris lol
Cheers Benn, after fitting new seals in the other glass it was worth the wait for these
Southie lol get another nova might help you remember my sh1tter :d
Royston, should be ready for you visit, hopefully I'll take you out in it, doubt it will have the decals on by then tho
Got these back from the powdercoaters today
http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/r...S/ccca1294.jpg
Im happy with the finish, I'll start swapping it over tomorrow and put some thin washers on the bottom stub axle bolts so the wheels clear the arches
.
