Questions questions...
Any know the significance of the socket???
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1158.jpg
I'll tell you....round edges lol
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1161.jpg
And one gear shift hole cover
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1164.jpg
Cleaned the area up and got rid of the sharp edges from the spot welds
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1162.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1163.jpg
And welded it in
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1165.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1166.jpg
Then cleaned it up
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1167.jpg
And sealed the under side
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1169.jpg
Then i covered up the rest of the holes in the under side of the car
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1168.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1170.jpg
And stuck a few more stitches in
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1171.jpg
And gave it a good blacking with some stone chip! :D
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1172.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1173.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1174.jpg

More to follow after dinner  :thumb:
looking good James.
ps thanks for the pic's
x x

I started thinking about the cage as the car was nearly ready to go horizontal again so i profiled up my rear diagonal
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1176.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1178.jpg
And slipped her in - oh er
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1179.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1181.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1182.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1183.jpg
Snug as a bug
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1184.jpg
So today after work and repairing a cement mixer drum (don't ask!) i welded the diagonal in place.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1185.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1186.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1187.jpg
The i had a good clean up so i could tip the car
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1188.jpg
Back on the ground
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1189.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1190.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1191.jpg
With a clean up going on (and the fact the car was now taking up more space) i shifted the engine from behind the car to the engine stand so i could start tidying it up
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1194.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1195.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1196.jpg
Once the primer had dried on the cage i had a play with it in the car ready to make up some spreader plates
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1197.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1200.jpg
This pretty much funked my turret top plans - rethink needed as they don't meet the turret were i expected they would....
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1198.jpg
Then Marmite thought she saw a mouse
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1201.jpg
and here
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1202.jpg
Or was it there lol notice the attempt to take a pic of the car in the back ground
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1204.jpg
And the front - it fits well
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1205.jpg
Another question...which ones shall i use as they have multiplied???
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1207.jpg lol
And some more messing around just because - the sill repair looks ok from this angle so i'm happy!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1209.jpg
nice workfella, love propper stonechip, used it on my inner arches, wish id of done what you have with the underside, but too far gone now lol,
putting another diagonal in the cage?
Stone chip is really good stuff and worth doing imo. Not sure what you mean another diagonal? :confused:Quote:

I thought thats what you meant (a cross diagonal lol) i think i will leave it as it is i don't need any more weight!!! :eek:Quote:

Scott
Hi Scott i'm waiting on a couple of things - firstly the fact i don't have any rear coil overs yet!!!!!! And i wanted to know how the cage was going to sit before going a head. They will be drilled soon.
lol always help if you have the shocks!
As for the cage, is it an SD one? And in the pics it look as if the legs fall short of the rear arch/turrets? not sure though as you have them coverd up, if they do you could make a small box type mount to bridge the gap (think Lee had to do something like this)
Scott
PS: im off to do some work on mine! "SHOCK"
Looking good as always chap - you never fail to give an entertaning update as opposed to just messing with the ride height! lol
I see you've also trimmed out the rear panel ready for a Dar style diffuser?
Cage/turrets malarky is a bit of an **** but I'm confident you'll find a win win solution.
Are the strips just off cuts you're keeping with the aim of just using the best fit for shiny sill/kick plates?
or are the strips for tagging the cage to the shell?
Looks awesome James, Are the clear rears staying? Whens its due to be out and ready then?
Jay.
I'm soooooooo gagging to tell what the strips are for! :D Great idea by me!
Put it this way, I feel that this will seperate this Nova from the others... not to big it up or anything lol
Tidy work there matey! I'm going to guess the strips are for the rear splitter or some form of ground effects type thing...
Go-kart style side-rubbing strips so that it can make it round corners, computer game stylee lolQuote:

as a clue olly & ernie, will the strips be fitted as is or will then need trimming/adjusting etc?
ive said enough so going stum now sorry..
Bent round about 30 degrees each, welded together and attached via pulleys to the fanbelt to make a propellor to mount on front? lol
They're the bars for the cott he has to make for all the promises he's making to the missus ;)
I daren't give any more away, as James has pics of me naked that he's not afraid to use lol
I'd rather you didn't then! No offence ;) lol
Well i can say there may be a rear diffuser and a whole 'flat' floor going in at some point but not at this moment...all your guesses are wrong...i thought it was quite obvious...maybe not but to put you all out of your misery up date coming up after dinner....i hope you arn't disappointed lol As for Oli's idea it should help with going round corners but not bumper car stylee....
I want to have it finished by May - perhaps the PNG day a combe but we will see how it goes.
cant wait but i already know lol.
are you going to square the arches for clearance dtm stylee?
only other things I can think are some sort of lower strut brace or a dash, of sorts  quite interested to see now lol
Right i know i have been teasing you all for a while now but, i have got to the point now were i can reveal what the strips of 2mm steel are for...i'm not sure how may people have tried this before but i haven't seen it done? So i thought i would give it a go and its turned out well!
So here goes it all started like this (and yes Olly and i did discuss the idea but i'm not letting him take all the credit :p)
Two front turrets
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1193.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1192.jpg
A straight edge and a measuring stick - note i have temporarily fitted some front wings
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1212.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1213.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1215.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1214.jpg
And some strips of metal
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1207.jpg
....Any one got it yet???
I think i can feel a custom bonnet coming on
So after some careful measurements and a bit of head scratching i marked out a datum line to work from - 80mm down from the edge of the hole in the top of the strut.
As so
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1216.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1217.jpg
Marked out some more reference points and got the grinder out
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1219.jpg
Chomp!
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1220.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1221.jpg
Any one know where you can get replacement front turrets from???? lol
Then to solve the mystery it was time to use one of the strips of steel i went for a comfortable 45mm
I started by profiling it roughly to shape
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1222.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1223.jpg
Then began taking it in after i had cleaned up the seams
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1224.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1225.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1226.jpg
tried the 'lid' on for size and made a few small alterations
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1227.jpg
And tacked it on
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1229.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1231.jpg
And started to weld it all in until the welded decided it was hot as funk again
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1232.jpg
So while i was waiting for the welder to cool i decided to make up some supports for the new extension.
I gave the turret a clean up and removed all the excess weld (weight) once i had finished the welding that is.
Here they are....
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1234.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1237.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1235.jpg
And a smaller one on the out side of the turret
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1239.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1240.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1241.jpg
Its going in there
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1242.jpg
All welded in
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1243.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1244.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1246.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1245.jpg
Gave it a good clean up and a prime for tonight
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1247.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1248.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1249.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1250.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1251.jpg
I think its come out well?
The back edge (bulk head side) in the pic below will have some sort of tag in device for the front legs of the cage so i haven't touched that yet
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...urrets1252.jpg
What y'all think worth the wait???
