Ah. Needs cracking on with.
Feck get it done
So after a very long wait I am in my new unit complete with a level floor - yay! The engine and front subframe as you have seen has been removed from the donor, rear subframe next. I have spent this weekend offering the engine and box up to shell and seeing if a) its feasable and where it needs to sit and b) how I'm going to go about it!
a) Feasable? - It sure is! Fits in the bay a treat and gearstick should be in a great location to have the seat sit far back. I have plenty of room up front for a rad and decent cooler, probably without butchering the bumper! Depending on ground clearance of the subframe and shell the engine fits height wise to close the standard bonnet. Just depends how low I want to get it all whether i decide to run a scoop or not for clearance.
b) Method - Lots of head-scratching and staring this weekend but there is a plan of attack! I need to make up my chassis rails to hold the subframe mounts either side of the engine and it will hold the brackets that support the front tie rod mounts. Once bolted to the frame I can use these mounts to level the engine up and set on a jig of sorts. Next job is to get some tyres on the wheels I have - going 215/45R17 fronts and 235/40R17 rears, all 888s and with same diameter. I can then set the geometry how I want it. Then a case of placing the shell at the desired ride height!
So just a few pics to give you an idea...

Now im impressed!
