So im preparation for TOTB, I continued fitting the new RJ'd bottom arms and got the drivers side done, but with help from nova ian we'll do the passenger side then.
I had some paint mixed up today, and collected a litre of cellulose 'Platinum Metallic E112 / 50L' which is the colour of my car. So the panels will be sprayed tomorrow
So after doing the dirty work of doing the arms, my attention turned to the tailgate...

Offered up FG item, played about with the hinges

2mm polycarb cut to shape and weighed alone, 1.2kg, old 3mm item weighed 1.7kg - so 0.5kg/ half a kilo saved on changing from 3-2mm alone
Rubber put on, getting a dab hand at that now lol

Nice one Olly, good weight savings there. What does the f/g bonnet weight?
-
Ad - all the new bits were weighed on Pg139 :) (5.3kg)
My car when I had it weighed as 767kg unladened
My tailgate, complete was 12.2kg, my new tailgate is 4kg, plus the 1.2kg for the new 2mm poly carb, so now a complete new tailgate is 5.2kg, so thats a 7kg saving.
New weight: 760kg
My bonnet as it was fitted was 10.1kg, and my new one being 5.3kg, being a 4.8kg loss.
New weight: 755kg (for now)
Obviously I have the rear quarter windows to do in 2mm, which will be negliable, but then I'll still probably do wheels, as there is 7.2kg unsprung weight to be saved there for £350

nice 1 olly just keeps getting better
-
Cool, nice savings then :)
-
I ****in love weight savings

Looks good mate, that is some SERIOUS weight saving from those 2 panels, I'm really curious now how much I saved with my bonnet as the old Ford stuff is built like a tank lol
Direct port nitrous kit sitting here from the greeny meany, braided lines, bottle heater, 3 x 11b bottles, can have it activated of tps if you like so all you have to do is drive and hold on :)
Update:
I've just got off the phone to Olly and I'll be fitting a kit this week :)
The extra power and torque on the handling circuit will make a BIG difference.
