Its been a while so i tought i better geta few updates in.
Who remembers my door with the nice audi handle fitted?
Well i took it to the body top so i could fix the dent in it and get it ready for paint.. So i started to grind the paint off where the dent was and found...
On the back it dsidnt look to clean...

Ground the top off to fine..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/Image092.jpg
Yes thats a hole thats been filled with fiber glass and filler..
Then looking at it i could see rubbing down marks so i ground off a lil higher..

Yeah thats filler right down to the swage and below.. Wasnt looking good.
Thats 3/4 of the door coverd with filler.. Bin time. Wasnt worth saving, they had filled over the rust.
Thats where i did this...

On the inside i could see it's only been spotted in place, normaly to keep the heat down to stop warping.
This hadnt worked.

Yes thats filler... Its 8mm thick. 8 Funking mm!

So now the handles are gonna be fitted to the two mint doors i picked up for Dec. But sadly wont be done for billing :(
From there i moved on to my grab handle for the boot. Wanted to make a new one and plastic weld it so it wont crack or sink or anything.
So take one handle, measure the hole, then cut bit to fill gap from spare handle.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...oothgrab14.jpg
Line it up and weld the corners.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...moothgrab7.jpg
Weld all round.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...moothgrab9.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...Smoothgrab.jpg
Start smoothing...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...oothgrab12.jpg
I wanted to use a little filler so i filled over and over the gaps with melted plastic tillit was as smooth as poss.
Rubbed it all down, plastic primed and primerd it.

Looks smooth... :)

Then i jumped on to the bumper... Didnt want the number plate light anymore.. So same thing again. Measure bit you wanna remove, then cut from spare bumper.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/IMG_7957.jpg
Get it lined up and weld the corners.(good penatration of weld..)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/IMG_7963.jpg
Weld it in fully.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/IMG_7962.jpg
Sand back and fill in any more where its needed.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/IMG_7965.jpg
I think the plate moved a bit, so it wass low on one side, so i had to make up the diff with plastic.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/IMG_7966.jpg
When smooth as poss lightly skim with filler. (doesnt look likely i know but it all gets rubbed out)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/IMG_7975.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/Image100.jpg
Then prep up and primer..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/Image102.jpg
Looks smooth.
