My Nova Build -WIP-

Needed to make some form of bracket up for the top support of the alternator as with the bike carbs manifold there is no way of connecting the original bracket. After some research I came up with a idea.

Ordered 2 M8 Male Rose joints, one R/H thread and the other L/H, and also a R/H - L/H threaded turnbuckle

So to get tension on my belt all I have to do is slacken the lock nuts and turn the turnbuckle to expand or decrease, so no need for any pry bars etc! lol Looks alot smarter aswell I think

Also stripped my front polycarbs down and got a friend to polish them with his PC buffer thingy. They were bought 2nd hand and had alot of scratches and marks where sickers had been etc... They came out pretty well, still got some scratches on but, got rid of the finer ones and made them nice and shiney :thumb:

Oil Cooler with banjoed joints as opposed to the one I have with jubilee clips. So can now bolt this straight up without getting the bypass bolt as a temp measure :d

After having the windows cleaned up I decided to have ago at fitting them using an idea I saw on a Tigra at VBOA.

Ordered a length of nylon

pull cable just goes to the master cut off switch so when pulled it turns the red key and cuts the car out :)

No Scott the handle isn't detachable. I haven't connected mine up the other end yet, but see the pic Ernie posted, shows how it connects and works :thumb:

I'm in the process of buying a house along with getting married! So its taken a bit of a back seat while everything gets sorted out. Just not had the time or funds to do much at all.

Simps, sadly its not up running, I've got it at home now, and the garage has been made ship shape. All cleaned and painted up, made a work bench and put some racking up. Although whilst getting the car off the trailor the front wheel came off because there was no cv in and the car dropped on it. Luckily just missed the wing, but knackered the wheel bearing :roll:

Done a few small bits on the car, and bought an omex rev limiter off here, some cage padding and a starter switch pannel from autosport show and thats about it atm.

Been doing alot of head scratching over the bias pedal box as when it was all bolted up the brake pedal wouldn't return fully, there was about a 5mm gap before it even got to the brake light switch, but after taking it to bits I found the swing arm in the bias box was hitting the top of the hole in the firewall, so got to make the hole bigger in both the firewall and the pedal assembly in the car.

Other than that nothing else to report which is why I haven't posted as its not much of an update, and to be honest I haven't even had chance to get online much!

Same thing happened to mine as I was pushing the car onto the trailor to leave for billing - most annoying. Lesson learnt tho!

What's this about the CV/hub? The wheel can come off even if it's bolted to the inner race part if no CV joint fitted?

The hub nut makes the hub tight to the steering knuckle. Without it the hub has "play" in the bearing

I've got a couple of spare CV's I use when moving cars about with no engines/shafts fitted, stops the wheels falling off Ian. Good to hear you still have the car and haven't given up. I've just completed a full engine build on mine due to the failed oil pump gear but have some bulkhead welding to do so it's not up and running just yet.

Now for the todays work! Still having issues with this pedal box, am I the only one who can't get a bias box to fit and work correctly!? lol

Basically when the bias box was connected to the brake pedal bar in the car it didn't allow the pedal to return fully and so the brake pedal sat alot lower the throttle and clucth.

I thought I had found the problem because the swing arm in the bias box looked to be fouling the top of the hole through the firewall/bulkhead, so I enlarged the hole as so

Bolted it all back up on the car and thought it would be problem solved, only it wasn't! typical! :roll:

The pedal return was alot better as it came back higher than before but still not to the correct position.

Anyone else had these problems when binning the servo and fitting a bias box??

I noticed where the brake pedal connects to the big bar that runs across the car that there is an adjustable clamp. Has anyone else had to adjust this to get the correct pedal posistion?

I've read alot about the whole re drilling this clamps mounting point to get the correct pedal ratio and soften up the pedal a little more, so another thing I could do is redrill the hole slightly further back, but its abit of a guesstamated job!

Anyones input on this will be greatly appreciated as its doing my head in now!!

For my Astra mk2 I did have to setup my yoke after I fitted my pedal box, the part in your last picture that screws to the threaded bar. As you say it can be adjusted which alters your brake pedal position either lower or higher. So get adjusting and let us know if this resolves the issue.

I don't know why I never thought about getting the pedal adjustment back here, but never mind, whats done is done, and to be fair, the amount the pedal was out I would have ran out of threads on the pedal! :roll: lol

Another small update is that my dizzy has been sent to H&H Ignitions for the advance curve to be altered and have the vacuum advance removed.
