ahhh bisto! was just curious thats all, I think all Novas (poxy tolerances) are different, as some run rear coilover with no problems, others have major problems, and some have just minor niggly problems!
i'm glad i'm not going down that route now, however your turretts are damn shexy :cool:

I'm not so sure they are shexy as you say, after trimming down the bush in the lower damper & shimming over the mounting with 2 large washers, it hasnt made a blindest bit of difference to the clearance at the top edge of the wheel. So spacers now purchased... (not what I wanted)
Other news, the heater matrix has indeed split on one of the pipes where it joins the matrix body, so thats funked! Gonna try & have it brazed up. Shame as its brand new!!
Rest of the car is doing my head iun tbh. Now I know why I hate Novas.
It'll be a miracle if it makes PV now. :(

Just remove the matrix for pv and bridge the pipes
Thats the obvious solution but I just dont want to bodge it for the sake of a weekend away. One thing I hate is going back over old ground.
Perhaps I should get drunk & finish it....
bridge the pipes for PV, take the matirx out, if braizing it works, it works, if it doesn't, it dont lol.
I have approached the man who would braze it (via old work pals) so might be done tomorrow with some luck.
My Parents are home from a motorbike touring holiday in Spain/Portugal this morning so will press my old man 'the miracle worker' into service & get him to help me out. If anyone can sort these last bits out, pronto its him. Though he has no respect or admiration for anything on 4 wheels.
Next time you have it running, see what the throttle response is like compared to any other engines youve owned.
Mines pretty poor, even with the mantzel on.
But yours may be different with a afm/different ecu

I've had the rocker cover off for new gaskets, 2 rocker cover bolts were snapped off when I bought the engine & that involved removing 2 cam caps & removing the studs with a drill & eezi-outs. But thats all back together now.
Wiper arms have been painted & new aero blades installed.
I've also bought some hose & connected up the vacuum pipe for the brake servo.
I will be taking the car to my parents house over the weekend to utilise the extra space on their driveway so I can bleed the brakes better, sort out the final interior fittings & go over all the chassis & engine mounts etc for torquing up. Might arrange an MOT later today for next week. Maybe Thursday.

I've been trying to get some of the interior fittings back in. Heres the drivers side under dash shelf, it needed a cut out at the back to clear the Corsa pedal, see the cut out for the bias valve also.

The passenger side shelf has a cut out for clearance of the L/hand bonner release aswell as the footwell speaker pod.
Just need to connect the horn & buy a new rear wiper blade.
Power steering isnt being done just yeat, as without fluid it cant leak/fail an MOT. LOL

Been for a test drive & the brakes dont really work. I think the master cylinder is funked. Possibly servo too. It hisses with every push of the pedal when engine is running (vac).
Master cylinder for me craig.
Or, just the seal between the master cylinder and servo, or servo to pedal box?
A quick way to test for servo assistance is to start the engine then switch off after say 10secs running. Then repeatedly press the brake pedal and see if the pedal 'firms up' as the vacuum is exhausted. Do you have a non-return valve in line in the servo vac pipe? Is it on the right way?
MMm. Yeah, pedal just goes to the floor, without any bite from the pads, shame because it bled up & felt good yesterday....

You get a hiss when you press each time, as initially both sides of the servo diaphragm have vacuum applied, on pressing the pedal a valve is opened and the pedal side of the servo is opened to atmosphere. The air then hisses into the servo and the positive pressure gradient across the sides of the servo, multiplied by the area of the diaphragm gives you the pedal boost.
It seems strange that the pedal suddenly goes to the floor after working yesterday. Could try another bleed before ripping it all apart :confused:
It was bled with a pukka workshop pressure bleeder from a compressor, the type where the fluid is drawn through the caliper. I cant imagine it needs it again tbh.
[edit] I say it was OK yesterday, I cant be sure other than it felt OK without driving.

They don't always provide a perfect bleed. Always best to try a few pressure bleed applications with your foot. Pump the pedal repeatedly and firmly with your foot to agitate any trapped air, then hold the last application down, whilst your assistant opens the bleed screw. Then let them close it and repeat a few times. You will quite often get pockets of air trapped that a normal bleeder (vacuum or pressure type) will not agitate.Quote:

Also bleeding using the method I've just described will show you if it is your master cylinder that is fooked. As you will be unable to generate any pressure via the pedal.

Hold the pressure with the pedal, and crack open the bleed nipple

You sound like me lol IIRC my car has been for sale 36 times this week alone.
Your electrical problem sound like its the main feed off the battery come loose to lose all of that. Iirc theres an 8 AWG coming of the positive which runs into the car on the passanger side and then splits down into about 6 smaller ones half way across the dash (passanger side of the heater on mine)
