Fook @ 1st gear, at first i thought youd pulled off in 2nd or 3rd lol then remembered how long ratio the 1st in these boxes are lol
Cheers Adam, first is mental long, kinda cool though. Look forward to having a play with a motorbike and seeing the guys face when I haven't changed gear yet lol
Its like turbo lag lol
It's rubbish in stop-start traffic, but then the car wasn't built to do school runs in lol I think it'll be ok if I gave it a full bore launch, don't think it'd bog down. And it's kinda weird getting used to actually engaging and using first whilst moving :tard:
That first gear stopped CP from being able to launch off the line without wheelspin or bogging. Its designed for track use though so no problem. If you really push the first to second change you'll break the brass tabs of the syncro rings too.
Thats the end of your 1/4 mile runs then Oli lol
Whats 2nd gear like? Say if you change into 2nd at 60mph, are you straight away near the rev limiter in 2nd gear?
CP's was a 1400 with less torque and power and more weight in the car though ;) I'm confident I can get a decent launch, I'll bear in mind the poor synchros tho!Quote:

Very good . . . . and jealous lol
well done boy.
Cheers dude, surprised you made it all the way through! :)
Well I'm back at uni now, and haven't had internet connection until now! Not that there has been much 'progress'. I'm waiting on the landlord fixing the garage door, before I bring my baby down here. i did however pop home last weekend and before flying out to the ring I made a couple of external (camera phone) vids :thumb:

It's actually in a garage for winter  Brought the car down to my student house at the beginning of last week and tucked it away in the garage. I've been ill for the past ten days, and now that I'm feeling better I have a shoite load of work to catch up on, so no progress for a while. I will be heading back home in the boat this weekend, so I will return armed with tools and the front bumper, polo headlights and some materials :thumb:
I've also been researching wheels and I'm trying to justify in my head spending £600 on new rims that could potentially save around 12kgs+
The gearbox is worth every penny, the noise alone is worth the money, but when you get moving its an absolute joy! I think its especially good on the smallblock as it keeps the revs nice and high and really negates the lack of torque low down :) It is a PITA when you're on the motorway or in town though. I drove down from the midlands at about 65mph because the noise of the engine at the increased revs was too much, plus when you're in town in traffic a first gear that does 60mph is a nuisance too, it's like pulling away in 2nd in a normal car :( That said I'd never want to go back on a track orientated car
Nice too see your getting her about mate, was them vids done up near Neil's?
Think i remember that stretch on the way to his house from mine.
Scott
I've just ordered one of these as a belated birthday present from a relative...

Super Clamp with ball and socket - Includes the excellent super clamp made by manfrotto.
Supplied with a high quality cullman ball and socket. This can be used with bullet cameras and small to medium DSC's or camcorders.
So I should soon be able to make better quality in car movies :thumb:
I'm heading home this weekend and I'm gonna be picking up a matrix and blower from General Baxter (Cheers dude!), I'll collect my front bumper, and fill the calibra with tools.
Then when I get a moment down here, I'll remove the inlet manifold, adapt it so that I can have a take off for the heater matrix. Refit the manifold, plumb in and mount the matrix, wire in and mount the blower. Possibly get hold of some new seals and replace the shonky ones fitted to the front windows. Seal up the opening caused by the corsa pedal box. Buy some new front tyres (possibly a set of cheap road tyres) and then maybe book a winter trackday
NEWS FLASH
Oli ADD'S WEIGHT to his car

Nice work my man! Just thought i'd have a look through and steel all your good ideas lol seriously though i love this car and it's of great inspiration to me even if it is a small block
After the passenger ride i'm even more impressed and can't wait to get mine sorted...i think i need a wide front end though!
Keep up the good work
James :thumb:
Update this :)
Just read through this from the start as I realised one of the more 'mysterious' track novas was mysterious cos i'd never read the build thread lol Quality build, I love the ruthlessness and great inspiration to a fellow student :d
Cheers :)
Ummmmm updates... It's uninsured, un-MOT'd, i don't have anywhere to store it and i can't be arsed with it :(
you can store it in my garage, i could allways make it lighter for you aswell lol
Angle grinder it into a fastback, anything rear and above the cage is excess weight :cool:Quote:
