Sweet. Cheers.
looks so clean good work mate :)
He can do full s pics too.
Just registered on there!
Nice pic! That's one for the album...
them mirrors :O i want!!
lol i'll add you to the list. Along with the rear windows!!
Wow...cant believe its been 10yrs since i sold it to you Pete. Good to see it still going strong :)
Golf mk3 VR6. Just needs some slight trimming and self tappers. Very low though- even lower when fitted on the deeper GSI bumper. I went through several of them- kept ripping them off!
Realised someone had bumped this but was unsure why as i have done naff all to it as of late. Then i saw the user name lol
As Freak says, Golf VR6 splitter, i CBA with refitting it every time i drove it hence why i have not fitted it to my GSi front.
Not a lot to report. Tax runs out end of the month and will be sorn till next year. Got a lot of job to do!! Also got our second baby due in a few weeks so will have to juggle my time!!
Went to the forge action day Saturday. Days like that make the build, setbacks, and periods of no motivation all worthwhile. Puts a massive smile on my face and gives a sense of achievement. IMO that's what these builds are all about. Anyway.....here's a video of it getting holy death round the track.

Nice driving out there. Looks like it goes very well.
You're a lot brave than me out there...
I was gutted i was helping a friend change wheels for his 11:30 lap when i saw you go out...
Cheers. It does go well. Some fettling to do over the winter though. Will update this as i go...
IMO not really a case of being brave. I was abit anal the first year it was on the road, no wet weather, watched it like a hawk when parked anywhere....now i want to enjoy it. Also, the abuse it gets and the fact it comes back for more is a testament to my assembly (and my mates who helped i must add) skills lol
Just watched that vid again..lol @ 6;16...woops.
Looks like it goes well pete! I was hoping you would have got past that type-r but he seems to be a bit quicker on the straights.
Still, looked like a good session and you and the car made it back in one piece :D
Awesome!
Washed hoovered cover on and put in the garage today. Noticed my front grill has fell apart. The black plastic slat section has come away ffrom the grill. So started to repair that today. Then willl get it up on axle stands and strip off the brakes. New 288's to go on.....if will still has them! Also bleeding new better fluid into the system.
Will get some pics. Quite a few jobs planned between now and next march!
Just read through the hole thread
Great job, im 5years into my project so good to see someone like myself
Thanks for taking the time to read it.
stunning car this mate. you should be proud, its come along way from the start of the project.
Thanks a lot.
*embarrassed face*
This hasnt seen the light of day for months now lol
Had a massive list of jobs to do/i wanted to do, but no time and/or money has allowed!
I have even had dangerous thoughts about a for sale thread!!!
Nooo, dont sell! After all the work it will be such a shame.
Be a real shame to sell it.
Hi pete don't sell it a serious amount of work you have put in having read your thread I think it would b a shame. Also reading yours an other peoples threads I have come to realise that some of the best cars on here have taken years to assemble and even with every day life bills kids and everything else people still manage to build stunning cars hats of to u rich
Well well well.....
Decided to actually do some work on thsi at the weekend. lol i had genuinely forgotten tax mot and insurance is due soon.
This is how it went into storage last year!!

So started by tidying up the interior. My original GSi door cards had holees in. Seeing as have no stereo and have no intention of ever having one, i set about sorting them. A local chav racer advertised a ,oad of GSi parts on a local FB group. So, naturally, i fed him some BS about how its worthless and i would take it off his hands!! GSi cards (in a **** state) and an uncut parcel shelf. £20. thanks!
Set about peeling the material away from the uncut ones as the hardboard was shot. I will get some new board and cut new cards then re apply the material.

Old cards with holes...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/IMAG0252.jpg
New ones. No holes but the hardboard is split, broken and damp in places.
Material peeled away..

Gave the material a good hoover and cleaned the lower sections with tyre dressing. Will get some hardboard this week and use an old one as a template. Got some spray glue, just need a way of pressing them together to ensure good sticking. Just need some grommets to fill where the window winders would have been.
Then a simple oil change and new filter, MOT tax sort insurance and drive the wheels off it again!! Did have plans for new brakes, tyres, new rear springs etc to do over the winter, but time and money has prevented this. We are looking to move house in the next few months. Place we are looking to buy has a garage. lol already measured up to modify it so over this winter i can go to town. Hell, i may even strip it and cage it!!
More talk than pictures. Will get some more soon.
Nice work on the door cards, shame about the winder holes.
I tried cutting new door cards once, it ended badly. You'll want some more cards & swap material I reckon.
How did it end badly Craig? If you don't mind me asking?
Its got to be worth a shot cutting a circle of material from your old cards to glue into the winder hole...
That might end badly, with frayed edges, but try it. It might go well.
I was using a jigsaw & regular drill bits, but basically the edges of the hardboard were furry & when it came to the clips around the edges, I just couldnt get them in the holes I had drilled. I'm no carpenter but I didnt think cutting some board beyond my skills. Like I say, I ended up tearing up the cards I was replacing & using them as the basis for my homemades instead.
Hope that makes sense? Glad to see you are keeping her mate!
Understand what you mean about the holes. Hardboard is a funny material to work with. I have some punches I can use. Anything will be better than the rotten spilt crap I currently have!
Door cards finished, just need to refit them. Also done oil and filter change. Been a while since it was done lol Looking to get mot done soonthen tax it from April first. Track time booked for combe on the 26th.

Just scouring eBay for one blanking grommets for the winder holes.
Door cards looking good
MOT booked in for friday. Insurance renewal done. Thanks Sky!!!
But, Saturday whilst doing some MOT prep and checking it actually started.....problems.
Help.http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthr...-help-dead-car
So, i have been to Castle combe twice so far this year. Spanked it round for the action day in April then spectated for a wet retro and classic day. Then went to Billing. And thats about it!! Has not seen tarmac much this year to be honest. Time just has not allowed me to take it out!!
I did however manage a rare random drive out a week or so ago.

Its an old filling station about and hour away from me. I'm naff at taking pics, but makes for a good location.
I'm booked in for Retro Rides again this year. awesome show IMO. Went last year. Might venture up the hill this year.
lol again, i have been making a list of winter jobs to do, but we have just sold our house and are in the process of buying a renovation project. So that will 100% take priority!! Its got a garage though...
I used to own a SRI they was great fun :d but car looks superb keep up the good work
Looks great in the pics, love it.
Looking good Pete, you need to fit a go pro on your next run out at Combe to share with us ;) Brucer hires them out btw ;)
