By far the eaiest way to take off the glue left by the vinyl/ bump strips it to use cellulose thinners, it sounds brutal but it dosnt do any harm at all, just whipe it on ( use a fair bit) then wash it off with a bit of soapy water, saves alot of time and wont damage the paint at all!
now - I disagree - and the reason depends on what paint you have on your car. If its 2pak - no problemo - if its cans...god help you!Quote:

Anniversary Weekend - Billing 24th August 2008
Decided to change my brakes to the uprated GSI spec ones using Corsa GSi calipers (the ones with the springs - mini ATE's).
The PNG rallied round and did the whole lot in 45 mins inc servo!
The difference is unbelievable! Such an improvement and no judder!

Took car to garage for full service and MOT. They did a full service but decided not to do the MOT as they couldnt adjust the front drivers headlight - the replacement slam panel I fitted was 10mm too far back pulling the bottom of the light too far back. Also there was a bracket at the bottom of the engine that bolts to the exhaust that'd sheered off and needed welding. Also they adjusted the idle and she feels more responsive although they still need to check timing...
Took the car back, drilled 2 new mounting points and refitted the clips. the adjusters had seized so I freed these and realigned the light manually - much improved! 5 minute welding job fixed the bracket and the cars ready for MOT on Monday - just gotta drop her back off at the garage. They've already said there shoud be no issues MOT wise.
sounds like you are getting there Ade, How is the other one getting on?
other ones on hold till I get a bigger garage...got too many other projects on the go at the moment and works a biatch just now...
Alright there mate, hows both the cars doin? not seen an update in a while hey, best of luck.

God its cold!
Been dry the last few days so I thought I'd give the car a wash and pump the cavities full of waxoyl.
Took a a couple of hours but the SR's now full on the wonderful yellow gunk and absolutely reeks inside of waxoyl vapour!
The only bummer problem was one of the C clips that hold on the window winders pinged off into orbit! I heard it land in a bush nearby but have no chance of finding it!
So if anyones got a spare let me know!
