UPDATE
I was awoken by the sound of the delivery guy smashing the letter box at about 9 am.
This small box arrived....

It only took up half the width of my hallway and the length of the staircase. Anyway, couldn't hang on, so I started to unpack the thing.
Those blue bags were quite cool. They're filled with foam which moulds itself to the shape of the item.

There was a lot of plastic padding in there, probably enough to fill 2 black bags.

As you can guess it's a new windscreen. So with the help of my dad, we pulled it up to check for any damage, doing half of the windscreen at a time. This was a good opportunity to take a couple snaps. As I had thought, the windscreen is also lightly green tinted (as they are on many Vaux's from that era)
Tried to get a shot of the bare wall and through the windscreen.

The actual element in the windscreen is very faint, you can tell it's there but only if you go right up to the glass. All in all a quality screen, very pleased with it and cannot wait to get it fitted after the car comes out of the shop.
Will try pop to B&Q a bit later to get some of that no curing sealant.
Cool were did you get that from? Mines not in great nik! So i was guna use my spare but if i can get hold of a new one i will:) O and before i forget to mention.. If your going to mount your slifan the same as i have you have to remove the fanblades from the casing and flip it around so it blows/sucks the air in the correct direction! Ive just found out so i ordered another fixing kit and im guna have to wiz it back of this weekend, tut! Lol
Got this from the group buy on here. You must've missed it (it's a massive thread too lol)
I thought you could reverse to polarity by fitting the wires opposite way round and that would suck out hot air.
Yea but it didnt feel all that great when i tried it? So im guna flip it and have air being sucked throu the fan and into the bay..
Oh right ok, will keep that in mind mate.
UPDATE
Popped off to the garage to get a few more bits sorted. I originally sprayed the centre console in black to match the dash. For some reason it started flaking so I had to get it refinished to match the rest of clean dash.
So I first started off by rubbing down all the flaking paint using water to jet it off then 800 wet n dry to get it off and smooth.
https://images2.imgbox.com/54/f2/kIRgUBhF_o.jpg
Dried it up and wiped it clean with some spirit, then gave it a good coat of plastic primer
https://images2.imgbox.com/41/dd/XE5eFeyi_o.jpg
While that was drying, I prepped and painted the little bits from the console. These didn't flake but I wanted to recoat them so they looked new.

Had a short break and went back to paint the centre console in satin black

I then let those dry properly.
It was getting on, so I made my way down to the bodyshop to get the bay stripped. I arrived at the shop to see them rubbing down some filler. I'll let the pics do the talking, but there were more little uneven spots than I expected...
Full shot of the O/S

Close-up of the driver side rear arch, looking pretty smooth

Door filler getting sorted. The doors themselves are the worst panels for rippled paint. The guy was saying how the doors will need a bit of filler work to sort out and get back to smooth

Low spots even on the roof skin, must've been that low bridge I scraped

No low spots on the bonnet, just high ones lol

Passenger door getting some filler work. Again this door was fairly rippled and the rear passenger wing had some ripples too

Passenger side rear arch also looking pretty smooth too

Finally the boot. Had a couple dings that I never even noticed

Will be going again tomorrow to remove the accelerator cable, clutch cable and remove other miscellaneous bits so that that can start work in the bay without obstacles.
good work, are you not meant to put filler on bare metal?
Some fillers yes, some also work with a good key surface (College patter)Quote:

That was the first thing I thought of too mate.Quote:
