o done some more work tonight, got all the valves in, and also got my rocker cover through, and a set of cams through. just waiting for some moeny so i can get some lifters and then head done, do the cam caps need to be done up in a certain order?

yes, nip to your local library and get the haynes for a cav gsi. or an astra mk2. photocopy the relevant pages, and the torque settings, jobs a good un. i honestly cant remember if its "work from the inner cap outwards" or " round in circles" or "in a cross pattern".
I have a manual for a Cav GSi. Can grab it tomorrow and scan in the pages if you dont mind waiting?
Start in the middle and work out in circles, same for head bolts.
so say you had...
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16
You would do it 4, 12, 13, 5, 3, 11, 14, 6, 2, 10, 15, 7, 1, 9, 16, 8.

i have stripped a 8v befor just to see how it works, but this is the time lapping in valves, and rebuilding it all. so learning alot.
and yeh im not gonna rush into buying a dolomite and try and find a good one.
