Good, i like them more now too. I improve cause i see most things as shit tbh.
I'll judge your skip bennnnnn :)
Please do.
Do you think it possible to hybrid the top oe red lenses with aftermarket bottom clear lenses?
Reason why I ask is; clear lenses with red tint put on for legal reasons fade to pink within 2 months.
Yes, but it will be tricky to get the glass(plastic) out with out breaking it. Its mega brittle.
I made a set of tinted ones using House or Kolor Kandy red, theres a guy on here still using them and they still look like they did the day i painted them.
I just noticed your titles wrong, u should rename this benns on going struggle lol lol lol
lol maybe yes.
Tint spray or regular red spray paint? I've used red tint spray before & that's faded too within a year or so.
Proper paint, you can get kandy colours which are transparent. You build the colour/tint/shady up by layering. That wont fade as it will be cleared after.
And you can have the as light or dark as you want.
This kinda stuff.

Then you could use clear lights as i did, then tint the bits you want a nice deep red.
Perfect thanks!
Looked awesome at Billing, tidiest engine bay I have seen in a Vauxhall, it's well up there with the MK1 Golf boys.
Saw this yesterday and took a few basic iphone pics. Looked awesome. Liked the detail of fitting the side repeaters more flush.
Great work.
One my mate took

Awesome as ever Benn, took a few minutes to soak in all the details of your bay at the VBOA show but felt I could have stood there for hours on end to discover all the tidy and smart details. Got to love people with automotive OCD. :thumb:
Here's mine from Billing. Only taken quickly on iPhone so no majestic arty farty shots I'm afraid.

i love this car soo much, you sir are a legend keep up the good work.
Rick
Do you not get stone chips on the bottom of your wings and doors without mudflaps?
Ben what colour is ur bumpers? they look great just like the rest of the car! :)
I started to see small chips on my wings maybe our roads are worse over here. Your car looks mint
Oh, odd. Thank you too :)
Few small updates from before billing.
Striped front and rear bumpers off as they were marked and peppered with stone chips. The bodyshop did a great job squeezing me in and getting the primered and re painted in time.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pss28nfcwv.jpg
Gave the rear panel a good clean and wax. Looked ok too which is nice.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psoaw9br8t.jpg
Bumper sanded back, i took my time and 320'ed them both.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbizmugag.jpg
But they needed more so where 180'd and primed for a better finish.
All painted.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps89cnppk6.jpg
Nice straight outta the gun finish.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psfjspvjke.jpg
Next up an issues i'd had a while.
On my roof i had some water marks/a spray wax/sealant topup marks that would not come out no matter how much i polished.
If you look at the door line to the skye, you can see one of the patches, very hard to photo, but easy to see in the light/by eye.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps5vovugzr.jpg
So the only way i could fit it was by sanding them off...
3000 grit finishing paper was used.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psdji1czuo.jpg
Light reflection as comparison.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pscni9xmuz.jpg
Buff buff time.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psg9zwrqyq.jpg
I wont bored you with what i used, but was finished with 3 coats of wax.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pszs6c2w8e.jpg
Colour coded wash pad.... Oh yes :D:lmao:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pseucjqamd.jpg
Next up was the drive to Billing. I didn't wanna take any stone chip chances so... Out can the detailing low tac tape. Something i've always wanted to do :lmao:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psisuyuctv.jpg
Billing was ace. Weather was just right really.
Johnny A took this amazing photo that i love, as it kinda shows what i aim for in my eyes bay.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psqdbue0ek.jpg
All was good till as we left there was heavy rain. Like lashing it down!
This is where things got tricky. The car start to kinda miss, in a odd way. Like a stalling way rather than a miss. I could only put it down to water getting in to my air filter. As there was so much standing water on the road...
Stop for a bit, big thanks to Dan for coming back to see what was up.
When the rain clearing the car was ok again. Queue 100 miles of fine running, boost, lighting it up as i left roundabouts.
25 miles away from my Mrs's house the rain start again... Mega heavy again. Road surface was like a swimming pool. Queue small prob again but worse... Car struggled up the hill. Had to give in and pull over... Rain wasn't stopping. Had to call recovery :grr:
So parked on the smallest bit of "hard shoulder" ever! My mirror was over the white line, in lashing rain, I sat under the motorway bridge.. Watching huge lorries pass with in inches of my car.. Waiting to see it fly up the road smashed in to the front of a artic truck.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psxzkdh6rm.jpg
Almost 3 hours later i was sat in a fully covered over recovery truck that normally has Bentleys and other high end cars in.
Also found out i was maybe 200 yards from a big layby with bus shelter in it... GREAT!
So that is kinda it really... Well to add in. any one that says my car doesn't get dirty..

That was the Monday after Billing... I washed and re waxed it that morning.
Took a few pics after Billing too with my GoPro.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psv8olv2xz.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pswpug0tvb.jpg
I won Show a shine 1st place at Billing too. Which is an award that i hold very highly.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psicbggb0k.jpg
Congrats on the award Benn, shame about the running issues but I'm sure you'll find a way to sort it.
Love this, always looks so tidy! I take it it's no longer a daily driver?
Turbo rims are definitely the best look for it IMO. Am I correct in thinking you had a polished set?
Cheers Si,
I think a better designed air box and maybe one of the incased air filters with a feed that's out of the way.
Thank you very much. I try and use it as much as i can. I don't drive it to work tho as i have a work van.
I do like the turbo rims, but just find them not showey enough... If that makes sense.
I did have a polished set yes. But was offered a good price for that.
I have to agree Ben the alloys are the only thing that I'm not to keen on, everything else is just perfection though.
Was good to meet up again Benn, albeit a tad brief. Not to worry though, there's always Billing 2016. Well impressed with the bay, also very much liking the pic by Johnny A. Hope you get the shite weather running troubles sorted.
I love them, i just find them not enough... hard to explain really. plus i dont like it there are 2 other Novas on them now...
Very true, next time we'll have a longer chat, i find there always seems to be something to do a billing, which is annoying.
Bit of an update.
Since my dampness issues on the way back from Billing, I've remade and designed my "air box" I wanted to box it in more and add in a air feed from a drier location.
How it started. IT was never a finished item by the way.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psl7fbgoqw.jpg
My redesign in MS paint..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psdy8bo4to.jpg
Out with the plastic welding gear. I'm using another box i bought for parts.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psrvcxrk5y.jpg
Built the side up as i think that is where most of the water was getting in. Out and wrapping it around the front more too.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pscmkdt0yd.jpg
Added some triangleaction in for strength.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2ruhse7m.jpg
Then built the front up to inclose more.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2eyhvi0l.jpg
THen i looked at where the afm/filter sat. Wanted to move that around a bit. So box off, pipe work out.
Cut a few lines in to open up and then rewelded.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pstnouozlb.jpg
This aloud me to pull it around a bit more so it was pointing down and in more. No after welding pics as it wasnt a tidy job :(
So before...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psqri8vfcz.jpg
Then after, bit more flow room there.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2eyhvi0l.jpg
Next up i wanted to duct air in, from under the headlight, as it will be dry there ineven in heavy rain.
Bought my self a nice big chassis punch tool to get a nice shape. Hole and repaint.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psjzibngf4.jpg
Ducting in, not happy with it tho, is untidy.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2joymita.jpg
Sit nicely under the headlight, but want to tidy it up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pstu82rrju.jpg
Ran it in to the box and behind the AFM, fluting up to the filter. You can just see it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2eyhvi0l.jpg
Added a bit on the bottom pointing in to the bumper, as there was a gap at the front. Where i could see water getting in easily...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psrcnqjzwz.jpg
Fast fordward to the sat, all ready to drive up to Retro Rides.
Fast forward 35miles, having a bit of a play around with a Astra VXR. I pass him and pull back in, see him flash me.. Then notice the smoke. Look down, oil on! Quickly switch off and dip the clutch.. Cost as long as i can, as i know there is a juc coming up.. Didn't make it. Stopped just before it.. No brakes on the pass side. F**king car.
Get out, to find oil all up the side to the windows.. all the way down the side, all over the whole boot. Pass wheel is covered. Rear wheel face is coated too... Look in my front arch to see....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pskzvexjjg.jpg
F**King GREAT!
3hours and alot of messing about later...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psz40u9lhh.jpg
Got home just after 12.30.
Did you see me at the show? I was there in sprit thanks Dan.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...spmoi8wfz.jpeg
SAt there till the next day. Which is when i took the photo of the oil pipe hanging off and these...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psry3rkcpg.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pstwdgd4cm.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psokozd92v.jpg
Well that the body rust treated...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psxmtrjzoy.jpg
Was dripping from the caliper and the disc...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psoqaxbx8o.jpg
Stripped the pads out, disc off. Both soaked and cleaned with brake cleaner. Look ok, but not driven it yet.
Wheel arch was fully de-greased and washed off, had to paint de-greaser on from the top windows down. All down the pass side, the whole of the boot was done. Did the main flats of the floor too. Did the front of the rear wheel and tyre.
WAshed it off, snow foamed and then given a light quick-wax.
Dropped the cooler off, am gonna see about getting new lines make with prober ends. But lil worried why it blew off in the first place...
Swaged ends are definitely a good idea having seen that. Mine were done at Protec but weren't that expensive. What oil pressure do you run?
Standard Zlet pump pressure. I haven't tested it was a number gauge, which i want too now. On the Nova gauge it sits just underfull when cold. When warm it sits at 3/4 mark.
I've ordered a psi/bar gauge so i can test it, as i don't want it to blow from some where else if i fix the lines.
Gonna get prob ends on the lines that wont come apart. THe 2 jubliblee clips that where on the fitting where both very very tight. I couldnt push it back on when i remove it.
Just remove the oil cooler its not like your hamering the car on track
