Looks like if I ever change to a later, tougher box I shouldbe able to use the porsche clutch plate with a turbo cover plate.

Anyone care to have a stab at whats wrong/what I'm doing wrong with my welder??
It was all going swimmingly when the weld started getting lots of small perferations in. Gas ran out I thought as is normally the case! Switched to a new bottle I got but its still the same?? makes no difference to the weld at all no matter what setting I have on the regulator. It also seems to leave a lot of brown sooty deposit when it welds. I took off the shroud and cleaned it all off/out etc but no difference. Tried another bottle but no difference. Any ideas?? Only difference is I'm using a 110ltr mini bottle rather than the lower pressure ones of the same size. Its co2/argon mix which Ive always been using.
Hear the gas coming out the nozzle? Put it next to your ear lol
It's probably just unclean crappy nova metal tbh
This is on fresh metal too.
I didnt hear the gas first come out when I turned the reg for the 1st time as it happened. Also didnt do it on any of the older bottles. I wonder if the reg is damaged or something. The pin does move but maybe not enough??
Something I got told to try when I was suffering low flow rates, was to just put something against the pin on the bottle, and tap it, as they sometimes stick, and also make sure the reg is screwed all the way down. It's possible the regulator is damaged though, they are only cheap things for hobby bottles usually, £10-13 for a brass casting with all the intricate parts to seal against 110+ bar... something has to give somewhere
About £16 for a new one from Machine Mart. Worth a go I think.
You can get a fairly decent size proper bottle on a non rental thing for about £55 (including regulator!) +£50 deposit? That might work out best for you, it will weld nicer too tbh. Want me to drop you a link?
So on to todays progress. With the drivers side done I went onto the passenger side...

Part way through... as you can see I blew through towards the bottom right. Because its nearly upside down its outside my skill set to puddle it so will wait till cars on the spit and repair that.
